I have a former coworker who I used to talk to all the time and I've kept in touch with. For years she's sent me nothing but funny jokes and videos but since about this time last year she's sent LOTS and I do mean LOTS of these horrible political forwardings, hate just oozing out of them, very very ultraconservative (which frankly in the three years I knew her, i never heard her talk like this)

I asked her more than once to knock it off. Finally I got hold of the www.palinforpresident.org (or was that com...) and sent it and she went off. So I said now you know how i feel when i get the half dozen emails from you a day. I told you to STOP IT so why do you keep doing it.

Bet I ruined someone's sunday morning and I don't feel bad. I guess the real reason is why the hell haven't I blocked her before (because I really hate doing that) If she ever speaks to me again and sends me one more thing that isn't happy kittens doing fun things, I will do it. As if I'm ever really going to see her again.

back to writing. I'm going to the write in at Athens. I'm really excited to be honest.

Bwa! Tell 'em that we're very multicultural, we have a gun registry, we have same-sex marriage and have no problem at all with it, and even Alberta at its most right-wing-ward is far left of anything they would ever feel comfortable with. (I mean! Calgary runs its train system on wind power! Eeeek!)

I could suggest places they could move to instead that fit their own rigid ideology much more perfectly and live it out much more honestly and openly. But they all involve crossing the ocean...

but yeah i did forget to mention she addes in the religious stuff ALL the time, something else that surprises me. SHe NEVER said this stuff at work, then again we worked for the state and maybe she was afraid of losing her job

I did something similar last Monday when a fundie friend I've known for years (stayed with her and her husband in California, loved it when they moved up to Calgary) sent me some video with Hank Williams and a whole pile of images and messages that were complete lies about Obama. Sheer desperate propaganda trying to paint him as a terrorist.

I sent back an email whose subject line read: "CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP," and told her that it was a pack of wicked lies, asked here "Are you really that GULLIBLE???", and told her that if she ever wanted to know the FACTS about Obama, let me know and I'd tell her.

I should have known better, all this time. This was the same person, when my dearly beloved feline companion died in my darkest hour, told me that that was God's way of "trying to get my attention." She heard an earful from me then too. ("When your 3-year old drowned in your swimming pool, how would you have felt if I intoned that this was Vishnu's way of trying to get your attention and show you his love?")

Some people never change.

Here's their site (http://www.calgarytransit.com/environment/ride_d_wind.html) where they blow their own horn, so to speak. :-)

Granted, they've only got two train lines, but they're fairly long. And I'm astonished (and proud) that Calgary, in the heart of oil & gas country, did this.

When I lived in Alberta, we had the option of adding just a little to our utility bills each month, to be devoted toward development of wind power in the province. Now I hear they've got the greatest amount of wind farms in Canada.

And then they've got almost unrestricted development of the Tar Sands... it's a multiple personality province, heh.
