The only good thing today is I found a boarding place that will take Roy for 5$ a day if i bring the food. They use my vet and there is a three story condo for him to live in and a cattery room for him to play. I told them he was mostly an outdoor kitty so they'll give him extra cattery room time if he needs it (which is doubtful, mostly he's a lazy lump). The Amish help out there so he'll be in good hands.
I'm still sick. Then that time of the month rolled around to add to it. I had to go put in grades and I hauled my computer tower down there to update on high speed...and naturally something isn't right (this happens every time i update I swear). I thought it was just the monitor i used down there but now that I'm home it's still issuey. THe screen looks stretched. THe words look like the old dot matrix printer.I have no idea what got screwed (any suggestions? All i took with me was the tower). It's probably just a setting change but i don't know what and/or how. SIgh.
I redownloaded my buggy game from Bigfish. Still buggy. I wrote in to whine. Maybe I can get a discounted game from it.
Then I hefted the tower to get it home and I lost control of it, dropping a corner right into my maxilla (that would be where the moustach would be were I male). Now i have a fat lip. Whee.I look abused.
I go to pick up the tests that student took belatedly and the testing center is closed until 2 pm. Sigh. Oh well it's done now. Grades are in and I don't hve to go back down there except to pick up Roy's shots records and to go to the Merry Winery to buy holiday gifts.
am going to go lie back down and watch some NCIS reruns and just veg

You'll need to change the screen resolution there, try on each setting to get the best one for you~

Date: 2008-12-16 03:00 am (UTC)THough I have thought about taking it to competent people except i know my luck, it will go wrong. Everything I try to do with computers does.
I just wish I could find anyone who could tell me what (preferrable open source) software I can get to rip and burn movies on VIsta. Nothing seems to work right

Date: 2008-12-16 03:48 am (UTC)If you've got a 32-bit variety - try out this combo:
Patin Couffin driver (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Patin_Couffin_access_layer.htm) An alternative hardware driver, avoids using Adaptecs proprietary stuffs. Needed for the next program below:
Dvd43 (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/dvd43.htm) Repairs intentional damage to the disk.
Imgburn (http://www.imgburn.com/) Rips and burns with no functionality of questionable legality. I can vouch for other programs the author of this program has written, but has been forced to stop supporting - however, I've had no experience with this particular program in it's current incarnation.

Date: 2008-12-16 04:49 am (UTC)You could always go with Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=windows+xp+retail&x=0&y=0) OEM = no support/documentation just a disk and a license. Retail = package with documentation and possibly support (though microsoft may have cut that off by now).
