The only good thing today is I found a boarding place that will take Roy for 5$ a day if i bring the food. They use my vet and there is a three story condo for him to live in and a cattery room for him to play. I told them he was mostly an outdoor kitty so they'll give him extra cattery room time if he needs it (which is doubtful, mostly he's a lazy lump). The Amish help out there so he'll be in good hands.

I'm still sick. Then that time of the month rolled around to add to it. I had to go put in grades and I hauled my computer tower down there to update on high speed...and naturally something isn't right (this happens every time i update I swear). I thought it was just the monitor i used down there but now that I'm home it's still issuey. THe screen looks stretched. THe words look like the old dot matrix printer.I have no idea what got screwed (any suggestions? All i took with me was the tower). It's probably just a setting change but i don't know what and/or how. SIgh.

I redownloaded my buggy game from Bigfish. Still buggy. I wrote in to whine. Maybe I can get a discounted game from it.

Then I hefted the tower to get it home and I lost control of it, dropping a corner right into my maxilla (that would be where the moustach would be were I male). Now i have a fat lip. Whee.I look abused.

I go to pick up the tests that student took belatedly and the testing center is closed until 2 pm. Sigh. Oh well it's done now. Grades are in and I don't hve to go back down there except to pick up Roy's shots records and to go to the Merry Winery to buy holiday gifts.

am going to go lie back down and watch some NCIS reruns and just veg

Which BigFish game is being buggy? I had a couple that were buggy on one of my comps but I figured that was because of the sound issues I was having with it.

I'll presume you're using Windows, and go ahead and give you these instructions.

- Right Click on your desktop, go to properties.
- Setting Tabs.

You'll need to change the screen resolution there, try on each setting to get the best one for you~

redrum every time i move up a level i get a debug now message and it won't keep track of my level so if i want to keep going i have to play it thru in one setting. very annoying

Did you plug the tower into a widescreen monitor?

no. the monitors are the same side. I did go in and piddle with the resolution. it looks better now. I'm still confused as to how it happened. It didn't happen last time and I hooked it into the same monitor then too

Maybe it's time to consider downgradingupgrading to XP? You might be able to bum a license off the tech staff...

those idiots? I think not. They think i need permissions to get onto the ethernet with a strange computer. Um..no. They can't fix my XP either.

THough I have thought about taking it to competent people except i know my luck, it will go wrong. Everything I try to do with computers does.

I just wish I could find anyone who could tell me what (preferrable open source) software I can get to rip and burn movies on VIsta. Nothing seems to work right

Which flavour of vista?

If you've got a 32-bit variety - try out this combo:

Patin Couffin driver (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Patin_Couffin_access_layer.htm) An alternative hardware driver, avoids using Adaptecs proprietary stuffs. Needed for the next program below:

Dvd43 (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/dvd43.htm) Repairs intentional damage to the disk.

Imgburn (http://www.imgburn.com/) Rips and burns with no functionality of questionable legality. I can vouch for other programs the author of this program has written, but has been forced to stop supporting - however, I've had no experience with this particular program in it's current incarnation.

Sorry you're still not feeling well. And on that vista thing... Thank GOODNESS I bought our two computers this summer before we couldn't bet XP any more. Ugh... We did not want vista... We had to buy plain black business computers as it was instead of nice colorful Inspirons, we have black Vostros... but at least they have XP on them and they do run perfectly. I've heard very few people who are actually ENJOYING Vista. The few who are only are because of the Eye Candy and I can make that happen with XP just as easily with a little customization as you can see from my desktop meme.

hmmm i'm pretty sure it's the 32-bit variety (i'm lousy at this as you know)

so in theory with imgburn i would only need that program to say ah...liberate some anime from netflix and burn it to another disc or woudl i need the others too

I couldn't find anyone who would sell me the XP pack and I called HP and Dell direct and talked with several retailers. I think they got tired of no one wanting vista...

HP/Dell, etc, are getting penalized for putting out more copies of XP on certain types of computers (though in some cases there are incentives for them to use XP instead of other alternatives like Linux, particularly in the tablet/sub-laptop arena).

You could always go with Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=windows+xp+retail&x=0&y=0) OEM = no support/documentation just a disk and a license. Retail = package with documentation and possibly support (though microsoft may have cut that off by now).

Use all 3 together for what you're wanting to do. Functional, free, all-in-one programs that will liberate data (whether or not it's legal for the user to do so) tend to have a short lifespan if the author can't afford a good lawyer. A chain of tools like the one described above tend to be more survivable in the current legal climate.

Ah. Epic fail on my part. Apparently Vista doesn't exist in my head yet! Hope you get it sorted. ^^

I actually finished the game last night. Kind of disappointed in how short it turned out to be. Good luck with the bugs. Their customer service is pretty good though. Let me know how it works out.

Well, it would be difficult to type when you're playing bean-bag toss with your lungs. Dad and I are having massive sneezing fits but lately we're making a contest out of it. Let's see who can go the longest without dying. Feel better!

thanks. It's probably a vista issue. Oh so it really IS that short. I was wondering if there were other levels after you 'win' but apparently not.

Eeeyuck. I went through the Amazing Snot Problem a few weeks ago. No amount of antihistamine would help. ::hugs::

Computers. Sigh.
