writerly thoughts
Apr. 4th, 2009 04:58 pmWriters’ Digest’s 101 best website edition came out and I decided to include some of the ones I liked here and want to check out when I’m somewhere other than dial up. I decided to just slap this out my various writers comms since so many of my flist are writers. I thought you'd enjoy.
Canteach.ca/elementary/prompts.html – personal writing prompts that dig into your psyche
Jc-schools.net/write/create.htm – prompt generator accompanied by a dancing pencil
Nanowrimo.org – what can I say? I find this so darn helpful, every year and I never though I would. I thought the idea was dumb until I tried it
Seventhsanctum.com/generate.php?genname=writechallenge - this allows you to construct writing challenges for yourself. How can I not be intrigued?
Sixsentences.blogspot.com - write a story in six sentences, for that practicing to be precise with your words.
Facebook.com – can you believe it? they were talking about using it to promote your book and to network and I have to say a professional author HAS commented on some of the ideas I’ve tossed up there. (Former Linkster Terry Wilson’s daughter Justine Musk)
Sfwa.org/beware - this is a place that helps SF/Fantasy writers avoid the scammers…since it didn’t mention it, I’m assuming this place ISNT members only like much of SFWA is
Blogqueryshark.blogspot.com - agent Janet Reid dissects queries and might even look at yours. Apparently she’s a bit in your face from what the book said but honestly that has to be THE hardest part of writing so I’m willing to go look
Pubrants.blogspot.com - Agent Kristin Nelson’s agenting 101 series ought to be helpful
Anotherrealm.com/preditors gives contacts and warnings about the scammers
Plotwhisperer.blogspot.com – like it says a plot helper
Pageonelit.com – contests and other news
Querytracker.net – allows you to look at query letters and helps you organizing the submission process
