I'm rather stuck on something in my vampire story. I've written myself into a corner. Arrigo (the vampire) is very wealthy and been alive a long long time. Luc, on the other hand, is youngish, all but illiterate and dead poor.

Arrigo's been to the bar Luc works at once and will run into him again but I'm not sure HOW to get these two together. OUt of fear of his family (who probably would kill him), Luc is not likely to go to a gay bar or something that you know would be public so the villian can see and turn him... He also doesn't have much money to be gambling.

I can't even really go with the Arrigo uses his pull to get him a job as a bar tender at a better place since those guys have mixology degrees etc.

Thoughts about where in Vegas they could meet up that wouldn't cost much and they would concievably go.

thanks

It's not at all unusual for rich people in Las Vegas to go places where the poor are (and vice versa)--there are people in Old Navy shorts at the Palazzo and Fred Laughton while people with diamonds shop at the Outlet Mall; and if you write it that Arrigo's seen Luc and wants him, then why not have him be the one to work out how to get them together? I once again recommend someplace like Ellis Island, where everyone in Vegas goes to eat barbecue...

Ellis Island? I missed that one. Oh yes it has to be Arrigo being the aggressor. Luc's in a bit of denial. THings didn't go well the one time he got caught experiementing so he's definitely not going to be looking for Arrigo.

i'll look up Ellis Island. LIke I said, I've only been to Vegas once....(way to chose a place i DONT know...then again I was only in New orleans once...)

thanks

ever been to Vegas, but maybe Arrigo can follow him while he's running an errand or out to blow some steam or whatever. Dog him from the shadows and "bump" into him somewhere? I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Ellis Island is a joint (casino, of course) about two blocks off the Strip with a nice big "family style" restaurant and, off to the side, a BBQ "cafe" and brewery where the menu consists of ribs or chicken (or combo) served with bread, coleslaw, corn, and beans. That's it. There is ALWAYS a wait (sometimes a couple hours), and it's best to get there early and get your name on the list so you can get in the first run since there's not a lot of seating, or you can sit on the patio (the weather's usually nice, of course) -- that's where the BBQ pit is, and the smell is astoundingly good. Bcause of the limited menu, service is FAST. The beer is also good. All the cabbies know the fastest way to get there, and it's generally populated by locals (and lots of cigarette smoke).

The hard part is getting BACK to the Strip, since it doesn't have a cab stand of its own...

(Currently, because there's really nothing between Ellis Island and Bally's, you can see the Bellagio fountains from the patio if you're in the right spot.)

thank you very much. I looked it up at work today. It's perfect. It has karaeoke. In the original story, Arrigo shows up a bayou party. this is even better since he has a legitimate reason to be there.

Next time i'm in Vegas i'll have to try it

It's very yummy! Of course, every time we've gone we've had barbecue, so I don't know how the restaurant stacks up (the menu looks good).

yeah it did look good. Luc would definitely be there for the BBQ. I think Arrigo can eat just not much and he, like Spike, does it to be socialable
