that was a quote from Jillian (biggest loser's) book in regards to processed foods now that she's broken away from them. I had noticed it before myself but damn, it was really driven home to me today. I didn't get a chance to run to Athens to get the Greek yogurt I've been using to make my lunch (add in frozen fruit) so i bought the stuff in the little containers, one of those new 'fancy' ones by...uh Dannon I think. It tasted like eating a chemical factory and not like caramel at all. Someone brought walmart bakery cookies to the staff meeting and I was bored so I ate one. Seriously couldn't tell you what it was meant to taste like. All I could taste was preservatives. Blech.

I'm so glad I'm making almost all my own meals now. I've always cooked but now I'm even making things I used to buy premade. Losing weight and tasting things the way they were meant to be tasted.

I got tagged to do a vision statement for my department. I have a week to do it. Boy, talking out my ass is always fun

I've been watching Fraiser as I get ready in the morning. I'm now living in fear my steampunk novel will look like a fraternal pairing of Edward Elric and Niles Krane

Speaking of geekery and TV.... Heroes actually didn't suck. It wasn't great but it didn't suck (okay the Matt Parkman stuff did but the rest was almost interesting)

NCIS was so-so. Mom, however, loved it.

Mom - what do you mean you didn't love it? It was great

Me - what was so great

Mom - It was almost all Tony.

Me - well yes and he did a good job with it

Mom - He's cute. He should be on more

Me - speaking of cute did you see Suresh was on Psych last week. Actually, he's not a strong actor

Mom - Who cares? He could just stand there mute and I'd be happy. He's gorgeous

Me - I've been saying that for years now Mom.

Hee, your mom.

Do you make your own bread, too? I haven't baked bread for ages, but, so, so yummy when compared with store bought.

"Real" food is the best kind of food. If I can't read the label I really don't want it in me.

I have to figure out where I'll watch NCIS this year. Last year it was streaming on Netflix a day or two after the live episode.

I wouldn't mind if it was called "The DiNozzo Show". Michael Weatherly is so yummy.

yeah i've been saying that for years. I have friends who will not cook. period. I hate to think what they're doing to their health.

I actually still watch TV on my tv (I'm beginning to think I'm the only one who does)

yes yes Michael is

I got rid of cable when I moved into this place. I have a digital converter, but that's mostly so I can tell if I'm going to blow away during storms.

My tv screen is just FINALLY bigger than my computer monitor or laptop screen. ;)

I'll be happy to have cable and Mom and Dad's place. They even have a DVR. :D

(That's my only pro to watching streaming... I used to work second shift when all the "good tv" was on.)

Tony doesn't particularly attract me, but I'm with you and your mom on Mohinder Suresh (Ramamurthy). As a character Mohinder may be a waste of oxygen, but damn he's hot! ::drool::

I watched the Bollywood episode of Psych mostly for him. The episode was okay, but (sigh) he was so cute (sigh).

*snort* to the Fraiser concern - Bet I'd like it if that happened though! Great show.

And I feel the same way now about most processed foods. Since I've been making my own soups, I can't stand the canned stuff (although, sadly, we still have to keep some around for hurricane rations).

I've been making my own bread and yoghurt, not especially for health reasons, but because it's so much cheaper than buying it! I'm not much of a cook, but I do make the effort every now and then (I find cooking incredibly dull, I'd rather just be eating ;) )

Well, you're an inspiration. I eat WAY too much processed food!

Once you're used to real food with real ingredients, it ruins all the cheap-and-easy stuff for sure. But being spoiled that way certainly does make for more work in the kitchen. I'm usually okay with the trade-off, though.

I didn't see much McGee and Abby, which kept me from paying a lot of attention....

definitely more work in the kitchen and more expense

I enjoy cooking. I don't really like eating.

I don't know how to make my own yogurt, at least not from scratch but at least getting the large tubs of greek yogurt (organic) I can cut out lots of sugar and crap

I actually like McGee more than Tony but i think everyone on the show is attractive.

Sendhil is gorgeous. Yes sadly the Psych eppy was sub par but it had Sendhil...if I had that one undone novel of mine done up as a screenplay right now I'd cast him in the lead

It doesn't seem fair that the food that's healthiest for human beings to eat is also the most expensive. I've lost count of the articles I've read bemoaning the fact that fresh fruits and vegetables are beyond the budget of the average food-stamp recipient. Trying to buy organic from the local health-food store puts an even bigger dent in the wallet. If we all really _could_ live on rice and beans, like some vegetarians think we can, we'd have it made.

yeah I know what you mean. That was my BIGGEST objection to Jillian Michaels book was she is insistent EVERYONE can afford organics.
