three day weekend

It's Bob Evans Farm Festival and have I mentioned that my school shares property with ol' Bob? It's a high holy day were the school takes off and dances around a tree hung with sausages. Okay not really but we keep threatening...

So I'm off on friday because there'll be tens of thousands at the festival and most of our students work it. Mom will be here. I wanted to have this place cleaned. naturally instead, I wasn't home one damn day since last wed. I've warned her, mom it's a sty and if you whine, you sleep at the comfort inn. I didn't even get what i wanted done today because i ended up with a migraine so severe, i quit class a full five minutes early and went to throw up.

Speaking of class, there's been a chronic misfire in the usual nursing room so i took this badly performing class to a MUCH smaller room and it was the best class all semester. WIth me there right among them and NOT at the bottom of an auditorium they answered questions and engaged in the class.

So while I was lying around trying to clean a bit (since this time my migraine failed to respond to medicine) I was watching Bones.



So I watched it. The actual mystery part of it was fun. The rest was so embarrassing to watch. I was amused by Bones/Sweet analyzing suburbanites (and reminding me why i don't want to live in most burbs)

However WTF is up with Angela? Okay I haven't spent much time with kids but I know you DO NOT talk about your sex life with them. Yes Parker I have a boyfriend or No Parker I don't have a boyfriend. You don't start into how long it's been since you have sex and whining about how LONG it feels. He's 8. He could have asked his even creepier question about sexing up Boothe without her bizarre monolog (wonders if she told Boothe what brought up the conversation)

And then the whole Muslim thing went from just weird to highly offensive by the end. Firstly the pig thing was such a blatant ploy to make him mad it irritated me but that was nothing compared to the bashing at the end that was supposed to be good natured ribbing. It was only slightly less offensive than Family GUy last sunday which decided to use anti-semitism as humor right down to shooting at Jews. WTF? Though oddly when he was doing the accent the guy sounded and looked a lot like one of the math profs I'm friends with.

I'm not sure WHAT I was supposed to think of this eppy. I guess i'll look around and see what people who actually like the show thought

ETA - A big thank you to all the people on the flist/comms who've commented on FMA 100 without any spoiler cuts. Why should I want to find out what happens by reading it for myself? Your thoughtlessness is much appreciated. Thanks for not observing etiquette and ruining it. Saves me all that time of reading it

Sounds like maybe they might do better in the smaller room. Also, was sorry to hear about the students complaining the teachers don't care. I know how much work goes into all of your prep, and to offer extra credit means extra work for you too. You'd be doing them a disservice by letting them skate along...especially in your field! Scary to think this is the group that will become my doctors and medical researchers and god knows what else!

Any more the kids are lazy. In some ways it's NOT their fault. This is no child left behind in action. They're so used to hand holding and being pushed through no matter what they do that they have NO idea how to compete and cope.
