Partly relaxing, partly accomplished (I did get the Pompeii story out) and partly frustrating.

I did get to finish disc two of D. Gray-man (the voice actors still don't fit the characters at all)

I tried to build the celebratory snow man as promised for my canceled meeting. However it's powdery snow not good for packing so I have the world's dumpiest snow man (Yes i took pictures but you have to wait until i get to high speed again)

I learned putting plastic on the windows by yourself is hard and I only got half the house done.

I started to clean the kitchen and found that damn mouse evidence.

Talked to Mom. Grandma is being a complete bitch. My mom is going in for her second total knee replacement which means she can't go down there on weekends. Grandma insists that she can and claims she won't let the nurse mom hired into the house. It's a little late to get social workers involved and get this pain in the ass back into a home where she belongs (and admitted she was happy because she had company and yet refuses to returned) since mom's surgery is next week

Mom also said my aunt was put back into the hospital. The pacemaker and med's aren't working. a chunk of her atria are dead so they're going to have to change the leads to bypass the dead heart tissue and it's a very risky operation (that's two relatives with half-dead hearts)

2010 is off to the usual bad start. I did, however, get my loans redeferred.

Adopt one today!

I would lend you Cockleburr - an excellent mouser - but I don't think I could handle driving to Ohio while listening to her SCREAM since she hates cars/traveling. Also, she's 17 and not as spry as she once was.

YAY for the loan deferral, though. :)

Best wishes for the family issues and idiot- er, gramma.

i was holding off getting another cat because my power goes out in the summer when the wind blows on it. Forget about winter (though oddly it tends to do better then.) I just didn't want to have to deal right now with the cat but I might.

loan deferral is great.

Grandma is absolutely convinced it's her god given right to use her children as servants

I went to Best Buy and eyeballed their anime section and saw they had D-Grayman. I'm still waffling on that.

Meh, that sucks about your grandmother. One of my cowoker's mom had knee surgery last year so yeah...not so easy to move around like that.

i'd also look at rightstuf online where they have it cheaper than best buy.

the anime is beautifully drawn. The voice actors are just a bad fit

this is mom's second knee so she knows she can't do anything or go down there. My grandmother has been this selfish all her life. (and as I recently reminded her she put her OWN mom in a home when gram had nothing going on with her only that she didn't want to deal with her 90 y.o. mom)

Two days ago, when the cold got a lot colder, we had the tiniest little mouse (as in, I think my chapstick is longer) dashed across the kitchen, sending me shrieking up onto a chair (who would have guessed that of me? *is so ashamed*) with Barry shaking the house with his stomps trying to kill it. It made it out somewhere (we never found a trace) but, ever since, Hannah and Pinky have been standing vigil by the dishwasher, whining.

And clicks for you - I'm such a proud Auntie (the magma bred true *YAY!*)

I snagged another magma for her, if you want to keep that one for yourself.

Are you happy with the Pompeii story, or is it one of those that will need to "season" and undergo a second round of revision?

I need to go back and read over what I wrote for NaNo, speaking of seasoning. I remember being happy with it, but it's had enough time to settle now that I'll be able to see it for what it really is. Needless to say, I'm procrastinating like hell.

That's actually a complicated answer. I am happy with how the Pompeii story came out. However, this was one of my first successful attempts at writing almost pure romance and not a romantic subplot for a different genre.

I'm not sure i liked doing that. That's the trouble with these open calls. You're tailoring something to fit an anthology and not just writing for yourself. Also it has to fit the word count so it ended up being harder than I expected.

I'm sure seasoning would have helped b ut i didn't have time for that so off it went. I would like to get back to that novel i'd like to send the same publisher now that it's been seasoning for a year.

Yeah i'm right there procrastinating with you
