Mom is doing fine

I didn't want to put the mom post in with the bitching. I was getting a little worried. Mom said Dad wasn't waiting for her all day and that he'd be going home once she was in her room. No answer up until 330p. Called her cell but it was off (figuring Dad would answer). Then again I figured I know how hospitals work. Last time she didn't get put into a room until 12 hours after her arrival.

Talked to dad for a while. He was quite excited about this new thing they're doing. THey take a big vial of blood, spin out your proteins and clotters and use it to glue in the prosthesis. How cool is that? I'm betting they're doing this to keep from using cadaver bone which ended up causing massive infections and limb/life loss from people illegally harvesting. (Speaking of cadaver bone, I have a flinder of it stuck in my middle finger. I can feel it in there but i can't see it to pull it out)

I sat down, ate dinner after that long day and I get a call. It's Mom. Why didn't you call me? CALL ME BACK.



Me - (calling back) I know you don't remember mom but i had that big meeting.I just got home

Mom - oh right. I have a private room!

Me - cool. How do you feel?

Mom- good. My hip hurts, not my knee (technically like me it's not her hip but the nerves in her back but it FEELS like it's in your hip). This bed is hard as a rock. It sucks

Me - it's a hospital bed what do you want

Mom - comfort. Hey, I can call A.M. from my room. SHe's across the hall (this is mom's best friend from H.S. who had her total knee done the day before)

Me- great mom (thinking poor nurses)

Mom - they were mad that I only ate a little dinner but I ate the dessert so what more do they want

Me - for you to eat the good stuff

Mom - pbtlttt. Leverage is premeiring tonight. What else is on. I have comcast

(nurse) - want a bannana smoothie. Mom - YES

Me - let me look.

Mom - criminal minds, check it out for me and call your dad and tell him Leverage is on

Me - okay. Yep criminal minds is new.

Mom - cool (nurse enters again)

Mom - they just gave me a morphine shot ontop of the two vicodin they gave me. So what else is on tv?

Me - I'm not telling you. With that much narcotic you'llbe asleep

Mom - no i won't. (random conversation about how AM's doctor sucks and how Mom's doc doesn't, laugh about Brother) DAMN I'm getting sleepy. Call your dad.

Me -dials up Dad. Leverage is on. Did i wake you up
Dad- no (lying). Okay. Do you watch that?
Me - no i don't like it
Dad - yeah it's dumb...but it'snot TOO bad (code, I like it but won't admit it). What time is it?
Me - ten to 8
Dad- oh....i DID fall asleep. Well at least the cat's wher I left him last (as if there was any chance that thing would move)

tissue harvesting is VERY lucrative. more than once I've seen court cases with people doing it way after death at funeral homes and that's a huge problem
