I'm so upset

I could just about cry (embarrassing fact, I get teary when I get REALLY mad).

After talking to TWO AT&T people before the holidays who assured me I could get their phone service and DSL, today's rep says they don't come out here. I feel so betrayed. I don't even know what to say. I m ight call again tomorrow to see if I get a fourth story.

Earthlink only has satellite and from everyone I know who has had satellite internet has hated it (at least in this area) and it's 70$/month with a 2 year committment. If I'm still here in 2 years I had hoped to move into a house closer to town where I could get cable or DSL

Verizon...I'm going to talk to my neighbor tomorrow (I'm too spitting mad today) about how he still likes his broad band (also 60$). I got THREE different answers from Verizon on terms of service for this and none of them matched what J said he was paying/getting.

Also spoke to verizon about my phone bill. It has not been the same price for 6 months (once was a late charge) the rep was totally confused b y this himself. He has no idea WTF is going on (other than Verizon is one of the suckiest fucking things I've ever seen)

I don't know what to do. I'm not sure I could handle 70$ in phone PLUS 60/70 in internet (Hughes net is 80$). But it's getting to the point I might have to say goodbye to everyone and everything online. I don't want to do that. I live rurally. This is an outlet for me. On the other hand, it took me THREE damn hours this morning to answer 20 emails. I can't get a thing done.

Wonders if Verizon cuts a deal if i have broadband/phone with them

I hope something works out for you. We could never get a straight answer regarding out Verizon bills. Mysterious charges would just appear.

oh verizon is SO good at that. I've had them for what? 6 years now (wonders if that's who we hd in FL too)

I don't get how they're the #1 company in the country with service like this. I would do anything to avoid them.

I think i'll go call DISH about their internet (which I think comes thru Verizon...)

No Verizon in FL. It was either Southern Bell or At&T.

Bell got bought out by AT&T but yeah, when you lived there, I'm pretty sure it was Ma Bell at least for a little while.

Geez, I'm so sorry for all the frustration. I really hope someone is able to give you a deal of some sort, or follow through with prior statements regarding service areas. We've always gotten deals for having more than one service with a company, so I would hope that you could get one too. *hugs*

I don't have any advice for you about getting a decent internet connection out in the sticks, but good luck. And you're not the only one who's had problems with Verizon's billing; I knew a couple who kept getting overcharged by them and eventually had to switch.

From what I've heard about Satallite the download speed is amazing. The upload speed has a slight lag. My neighbors have Satallite internet (I"m not certain which provider) and they manage to play WoW on it just fine.

I don't know if that helps at all but I thought I'd put my two cents in.

thanks. around here, no one likes it. I've seen it in action (the one we have) and it's just not good and close to 100$
