Last Update for the day I swear

Well I made it back safely as you know. Yesterday was a long day. Managed to vote after all in spite of them losing my absentee ballot (for all the good it did. I was pretty convinced even before voting that checking the democratic box in Fl was like pissing in the wind) Hey this time at least they gave us a MARKER to do the vote (last time it was a No. 2 pencil).
Got to the plane and it was bumpy ride all the way to Minneapolis. I fell asleep (unusual for me. I hate sleeping in public places and I’m an insomniac) Funny thing was I did so while writing my nanomo novel, one minute my secondary lead character is stroking his lover’s cock and next thing there’s a huge scribbly mark from where I nodded off pen on paper. Once I got to Minn. I had almost 7 hours worth of lay over so I headed to the Mall of America (for those who don’t know it’s the biggest mall over here. It could take 2 days to go through). They have a dedicated city bus from airport to mall. I hate buses but that’s life.
All I can say is that the mall has HIGHLY aggressive kiosk salespeople. They’re annoying. The mall is amazingly large. I spent 5 hours there and only saw a portion of it. There was something creepy going on, a feeling like I was being followed and I don’t know why. The mall was mostly empty which was nice. I didn’t go on the roller coaster inside the mall or go to the underground aquarium. Heck all I did was wander aimlessly. I misread the clock (My watch died) and thought it was an hour later than it was and skipped eating at one of the many restaurants which is a disappointment. I did eat at one of the little stands though. Mom wanted me to buy her something there but I didn’t find anything I liked. Dad on the other hand I found things to buy for including live trees (didn’t buy them but will via email closer to the holiday, www.jonsteen.com). Mom is STILL pissed at me for not getting her something.
Stores I really liked : Torrid, it’s plus style clothing that’s more hip than normal. Okay, some is really slutty, some is hip, some is too young for me, some is gothy and Nightmare Before Christmas is making a huge come back. I LOVE that movie. I even tried out their Ragdoll perfume and it smelled good on me (www.torrid.com) and The Garlic Shoppe. Oh I was in heaven. I can eat pickled garlic like candy, no faster than candy and now that I don’t have ELD whining about the amount of garlic I use I can go nuts. I bought big jars of smoked pickled garlic. YUMMY.
By the time I got back to the airport I had hit the wall and was crashing out fast. I was in pain between the infected toe and the massive talar dome jamming doing on in that screwed up ankle of mine (walking for 5 hours didn’t help). Got back to WI fine and just crashed.
Found out the next day that I will be teaching another semester (which doesn’t counteract the horrid news about the election but helps). However I also know it’s my last semester because the program is getting cut back but I’m not upset. I was only here for a semester original so getting the second semester is good. They want me to take teaching courses so I look even better for my next job, even better. AND my students were very happy to have me back. They didn’t like my boss subbing for me. I’ve been told never to leave again and they want me to teach advanced next semester. That made me feel much better.
I thought the furnace had died again flooding the basement but when I got home and had time to look at the flood it turned out that it wasn’t near any pipes. As close as Zog can guess is that the rain came down the chimney and out the cleaning port all over the floor...still have that mess to clean up but at least I have heat because it’s snowing.

Date: 2004-11-04 09:51 am (UTC)It's wrong, I tell you (but then, I come from a family of vampires anyway).
Though I did like the bread-and-butter garlic. That was almost tasty.
