Tonight hasn't been any better. Just literally everything has made me infuriated (don't worry bob_fish I beta'ed before i got pissed off)

So instead here's something cute.

speaking of being a geek, i'm not sure how I feel about the new doctor but i DO like Amy. A lot.

I have a couple more springkink's to post up to get thru the backlog and then I have to start on my fma_fic_contest stories. Ah see my enthusiasm for clearing out the back log.

I still can hardly write. I'm going to have to post up my help_haiti in chapters. I didn't want to but i have little choice. sob.

I'm going for therapy onmy back tomorrow. I've reached the limit of NSAIDS I can take. I know being in this much pain is affecting my mood but really if you knew what was going on at work you'd probably agree I should be annoyed.

Sorry to hear work stuff is so rough! It was really nice of you to beta for me in the middle of all this life stuff - and of course I would have understood if you had too much going on! Anyway, thanks, and hope things improve.

BTW, I rather like the new Doctor. I've seen three eps now. He wasn't quite there with the emo stuff yet, but then Tennant and Eccleston were both stellar at that with their big puppy eyes and the crying on cue, the woobies. Amy is a lot of fun and very likeable, but her hyper-competence and self-assurance makes her slightly less human for me. She'll probably develop more as it goes on - I think they're hopefully trying to underline how witty and resourceful she is before they get to her actual story, which is a pretty interesting one (one last fling before a wedding that she's evidently got major doubts about).

My favourite of the New Series has been Donna. Oh, Donna.

I've only seen the one eppy since I don't stream them. He's sort of goofy looking but so was Eccleston IMO.

Ah, well I shall wait and see with Amy. I liked Donna t hough she whined a lot (she looks so much like my best friend in college it's not funny). I liked Martha best. couldn't stand Rose

Eccleston was goofy looking but I know many people who would love to tap that.

Donna whined but she was also funny and felt very real to me in some of the same ways I find FMA Rebecca does - I think everyone knows at least one Donna and one Rebecca. I quite liked Martha, although much of the plot didn't serve her character well. Her medical school and hospital are a thinly-disguised version of Helen's, Guy's and St. Thomas', and the hospital that got sent to the moon was Tommy's main eyesore building. Helen enjoyed this immensely.

Donna did feel real. I definitely know a Donna (often I AM a Donna, though a bit more intellectual). Ha, so that was a real hospital that went to the moon. I always wonder is it real or a set.

It amuses ELD that I'm watching Dr. Who (and she isn't). She grew up loving the older Who's. I hated them. Eccleston was the first one I liked

I grew up watching old school Dr Who. It was my first fandom. I sort of stay out of the fandom these days, though I still love the show - truly scary proportions of wank, although there are some lovely people too, as ELD herself demonstrates.

I doubt there is a wank free fandom but some are truly insane. That's why I limit myself to fic-only communities. I'm too old and tired to deal with the wank.

And even then I have very few gen. comms. i tend to stick to my pairings and don't get too blinded by some of the whacko pairings that people dream up (but i do have SOME gen comms for the whacko pairings that I dream up

Ha ha. I like the expression "Potterdammerung" for what happened in Potter fandom just after Deathly Hallows came out. There's insanity everywhere but definitely in some fandoms/corners of fandom than others. I guess the trick is working out what your threshold is and staying clear of the wanky corners.

There are definitely some whacko pairings out there, especially in FMA. *looks shifty* Not so long ago in Who fandom, shipping the Doctor with anyone at all was ridiculously controversial.

Yes, ditto - love Potter and have read fic for it on occasion, but it doesn't bunny me to write anything so much (although I do like the idea of hearing more about the Order of the Phoenix Mk I - I love a doomed resistance faction).

Yes, fandom_wank can be scary and somewhat bullying.

I was making a self-deprecating joke about my predilection for Roy/Ed. But I think my crackiest pairing so far must have been that Roy/Ed/Ling round robin enemy and I did. It was very very silly but fun. What's the craziest pairing you've done? Oddly enough, I'm not sure the OT4 is particularly crazy, it feels quite canon-flavoured and plausible to me (although this is from the girl who's written a ton of Ed-and-Ling-in-a-tent).

Al/grown up Elysia (damn confusing FMA spellings) is definitely unusual, although who knows what she'll be like when she's a grown-up so you could definitely make it happen.

I read your Winry/Greed!Ling and I think I commented - I believe that's the one where she has his kid and then Mustang (who turns out to be a Yao, amusingly) and Ed turn up to bust her out. I actually think Winry/Ling isn't that crazy, at least one-sided. He flirts with her like anything. But then he flirts with nearly everyone. Bad, shippable Ling.

I also read your Hoho/naughty aristocrat girl - kinkmeme, yes? Ancient world condoms ftw, and a poor confused Hoho. I rather liked the OC although what she did was pretty damn dubious.

I'm going to look up Justifiable Insubordination purely to see them trying to bully Roy into dragging up with Grumman.

And I think you're right that Al/Gate wins the prize. It definitely beats my cracky threesome.

Yep you did read Winry/Greed!Ling. There is a baby and the sequel naturally is Ed trying to learn to be a dad to another man's kid with absolutely NO help from cousin Roy who exists to spoil the child and annoy Ed.

But yes Ling is shippable, much more so than Ed. Heck Al seems to have more of a romantic/sexual side to him. Ed is repressed.
