wasn't going to update again
Nov. 4th, 2004 06:35 pmBut the anxiety is starting to well up. I have to meet with the lawyer tomorrow. For years I've been hoping someone will take my case. It may even be too late (unless I want to go for all the psychologic damage which has yet to be documented). I don't know. I still can't believe my hand can be ruined. That workman's comp paid out and yet be told that because a hand isn't worth much I don't need retraining leaving me with nearly 200,000$ worth of medical school loans and 60,000$ in retraining loans and nothing left of my life, my career or my identity. Now that I'm up here I'm hoping to find a lawyer who's hungrier than those in the big city, someone willing to work for the that measly 10% that the law says I might be entitled to for getting my hand crippled.
To top it all off I have my brother sending constant Pro-Republican emails wanting to know why I don't like Republicans (maybe because they constantly harrass me with emails and pick fights every time I come home.) My thought was you already have some Republicans lining up to block Bush's picks for the Supreme Court (i.e. Arlen Spectre. I can't believe I'm rooting for Arlen Spectre. When I was in politics I used to have to meet with this guy because we were both from PA and I always walked away from him feeling oily and dirty. Now I'm rooting for him to stop Bush from packing the court with Ultra conservative Christian Anti-Abortionists.
Then got into a fight with mom over the fact that I'm happy CA allowed for stem cell (not sure how they're going to get that past the national ban mind you). She's an otherwise bright women but she actually believes Republican party line about scientists shoving spikes into new born babies skulls and sucking out cells, killing the babies (no that is NOT how it's done. Neurotissue is highly evolved tissue). I explained to her that without stem cell research for diabetes that I could be dead long before I ever get to her age. ANd even if I do live I'm likely to be blind and limbless and I for one would like to see that research continue. She doesn't believe me.
