better than spiders right?

TOnight was the 3rd annual alpha sigma chi faculty/staff appreciation dinner where the frat boys make us a spaghetti dinner (and hopefully don't spit in it). It's held at the winery. This was my first time at the new winery which is in a renovated barn.

ONly the banquet hall is up in the former loft...because nothing bad could happen making us walk two flights of steps after drinking.

Merry Family Winery (which I keep typing Winry) has really great (mostly sweet which I prefer). I celebrated my lack of money with buying three bottles. I got the blackberry merlot for my table, the more expensive ice wine for mother's day (Merry Frost)and Bad Kitty (who could resist the name) the seville orange sangria. WINE. WHEE! (yes i've polished off the one bottle)

might try to write. finished grading exams (also after the party) and editing a story (hope to have that up tomorrow)

But WINE! Should have bought the pomegrante white zin and the blueberry wine too that frat b oys kept trying to top me off with.

also somewhere in here i have lost a kitten. he's hiding

The only problem I ever had with being down there was the crowd tends to skew rather younger than I am; it's one of the first places I felt like an "old fogey"! Hee!

That could be what I'm seeing. I keep getting the impression "under" a piece of furniture of some sort.

That would explain the impression I was receiving of someplace dark....but I interpreted it as being under a piece of furniture.

Sounds like it beat the hell out of my trip to Actual French Winery in Actual French Wine Country. The wine there was terrible. XD

aw that sucks. too dry? Most french wines i know are very dry and taste a lot like drinking vinegar (apparently the more of the wine snob you become, the drier you want them. Me, I want something that tastes like sugar)

Yep, that's it exactly. And, that is also what the wine snob on the trip said about sweet versus dry! Then he was all ~superior~ at me for liking sweet wine. Yeah, he was kind of a douche.

yeah you're an idiot if you like sweet wine. I mean why would you want to drink something that tastes good as opposed to something that tastes like it should be used to unclog drains

I want to ask how was the frat-boy-cooked food, but I'm getting the strong impression that after all that wine no one really noticed.

I have never tried icewine - it sounds very yum, although I do like the really raisiny dessert wines like vin santo.

Look forward to seeing the results of your drunk writing. And glad you made it home in one piece?

It's just ziti and not bad. I'm betting their 'making' of the manicotti was buying it frozen.

I haven't tried it either and given the blinding price of it (well for ME, I'm cheap) it better be good. Most of their wines are nice and sweet

yeah well ihad to stop drinking so i could drive. then resumed at home. you'll probably see it later

Cut them some slack - they are frat boys, after all, and they apparently managed to produce edible food. XD

and they did attempt to cook it. It's actually usually decent.
