What in the Hell Computers?

So last night I was talking to Verizon AGAIN about their ever-failing broadband. They had me doing something with my internet options that really messed things up. So today I tried a system restore (which FAILED to undo whaever it is they had me do).

Only now my computer is royally fucked up. During the restart after the restore to set point, it went to blue screen of death. It took 25 minutes to come back on. And things aren't working right. I thought okay it's running, let me shut down again normally and restart and maybe it'll be okay.

No, another blue screen of death but only took 10 minutes to come back on. THe internet settings aren't right.I could live with that if i had to but now I'm terrified something is seriously wrong and I have no idea why a system restore would have done this. Ideas anyone (this is a HP pavillion, vista)


So i try to get onto the netbook (aesus) and get online to at least tell people i might not be around as much until i figure out WTF is wrong. ANd it's fucked up. It says it's trying to recover the flash drive. What flash drive. I did have the mp3 player plugged into on friday (the last time I used it) so I tried to get it to shut down. It did then restarted without me telling it to and came up with a reconfigure screen. I THINK I have it moved off that to try a normal start up but I have no idea.

Every day, I think more and more I'm Harry Dresden's sister (btw Changes in the first 20 pages has annoyed the shit out of me. IT needs to get better faster)

ETA - Well the netbook is working and i've backed up my hard drive but now in the middle of checking my DISH guide to see what was on my satellite has decided the smart card isn't inserted correctly...um? I've been watching for hours now WTF electronics. How about you all just start working before I become Amish
