Did I mention last week that my connectivity had gotten worse? Yeah…Verizon says ‘oh you must not have had this outside of winter yet, have you (in a very condescending tone). What’s different this time of year?
Me – (not your asshole tone) storms?
Verizon (chuckles deprecatingly) Think trees.
Me- you’re telling me the leaves are disrupting the signal
V – yes
Me – so this thing is a piece of shit 9 months out of the year.
V- no response.
So lately it’s also been fucking itself and dying, the software to run the broadband. It either just ‘encounters a problem’ and needs started up again. Annoying but not a real problem. But it’s also started this game on initial start up where it initializes then when you click to connect the whole thing disappears and you have to reboot the computer. Also it didn’t reset the date back to zero this month.
Alice with Verizon who shall be named because she was such a helpful person. – I can’t help you with the data usage. You need customer service I’m transferring you
Me – that’s only half the problem so wait.
Alice –(instantly defensive) WHAT?
Me – explains situation
Alice – well what software are you using
Me – whatever you gave me in Feb
Alice – Do you have ANY idea how old that is software wise
Me – I know enough that it worked fine until three weeks ago
Alice – You need to download the new one.
Me – how, this is my only connection
Alice – Who only has one connection?
Me – most everyone I know
Alice – Well I can’t help you. We can send you a disc
Me – okay b ut what about the other problems?
Alice – I don’t know what you want me to do. You need to talk to internal data something or other or customer service
Me – I can’t wait for you to mail this. I’m almost out of time to return this.
Alice – you’re way past that
Me – According to you all I can return it because it’s never worked right
Alice – well do that. I’m ending this call
Me – So you’re not going to do anything?
Alice – no.
Me – send me to customer service
Customer service – we don’t MAIL the discs for the software updates. You have to go to the store
Me – banters back and forth for 45 more minutes before finally getting two Columbus stores out of her but at least she was trying to help.
Customer service – CALLS ME BACK (ma’am I talked to tech support for you here, you can talk to someone else now. They can help)
New tech man – WHY are you going to a store?
Me – Only have one connection
Tech - Ah…so why not go to a neighbor or the library and load it onto your flash drive
Me -….WTF? Look this is third story I’ve gotten from you people in a hour
Tech – it’s only 30mb. It’s tiny.
Me – die verizon die a painful death. If I could cast death curses, you and your whole organization would be dead
I have a straw in a bottle of wine. Things are getting better.

Date: 2010-05-20 03:04 am (UTC)That aside, that type of customer service makes me ashamed to be in the industry. I can understand when someone's hands are tied when it comes to helping the customer (I've been in that position several times) but at the very least I tell the customer that I can't assist them instead of lying to them.
Verizon definitely needs to die in a fire, right now.

Date: 2010-05-20 03:15 am (UTC)telling me you can't help me would definitely be better than the horrible attitude of Alice. She was the rudest I've seen.m ostly they're jsut unhelpful

Date: 2010-05-20 12:25 pm (UTC)Seriously? MOST people only have one connection because they aren't running a computer service. God, people are stupid.
Whenever I had to deal with Verizon, I HATE the stupid automated crap in the beginning. There were times when the roommate had to take over because I wanted to just reach through the phone to rip out the system. I want a frickin person. Not a stupid automated program that can't get me to where I want to go. The other beef is not being able to understand the person because they have such a heavy accent.
The one time I had a tech come to the house, he was really nice, so not ALL of them are bad.
Just 99.8 percent of them.
