Even though I was posting a lot during my trip, reading wasn't easy to do on the netbook. Soooooo, if you really had something you wanted me to see and I didn't, drop me a link. Thanks.

And if anyone has a link to or could email the picture of Pinako and Hohenheim drinking together (I think it has a date on it), I would be so grateful if you hook me up. I need it for a story I'm doing. Thanks guys.

ETA - probably need to find someone who's not got a prompt in at [livejournal.com profile] fmagiftexchange to do a quicky edit for me so I don't have to bother [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog while she's trying to finish hers or give someone an unbetaed piece of poo as a gift...

also I might want to FINISH the thing. go me. procrastinator extraordinaire

Funny, now I did watch that. And loved every minute.

I got behind on FMA and now I'm afraid to read it. But I shall. Sooner or sooner.

I'm doomed: am watching DBZ on DVD. just about through with 2nd "Saga." It's so slow it's killing me. The fight scenes are unreal. But my son loves it.

Nah, it's just cheesy. Bad animation. Wandering plot. Too much slow fighting with random powers and bizarre numbers. "His power is over 9000!" No wait. "30,000!" Insane.

Still, we're enjoying it.

Kuroshitsuji isn't really drawing me in and I managed to spoil myself for the ending of the anime so it's like....gah

Anime =/= manga. Manga is more ornate, equally gothic, and nicely plotted. No ending in sight for Seba/Ciel. But is ok if it's not your thang. Loving FMA tells me you have good taste enough. :)

well i haven't seen enough of the manga (or any of the anime actually). I don't want to buy it since it's supposedly coming free for me to review. Bad stuff in my life makes me very uneasy with shouta (even if this doesn't actually go there) and relationships with unequal power bases. It's an issue of mine that I try not to let get the best of me

I completely understand the concern about shota. From my POV, the manga displays a very compelling relationship in the field of dark fantasy/horror between Sebastian (the demon/butler) and Ciel (the kid) where the power is far less imbalanced than you'd imagine. Very determined boy has the power of his family's estate and his own personal strength that compels the demon and makes him subservient in interesting ways. There is NO shota in the series, only that in the desires of some viewers. Seems to be a 50/50 split between those who read shota pleasure into it and those who reject that or are turned off by the idea but still love the anime/manga. Somewhat like Roy/Ed and Sesshoumaru/Rin fans in Inuyasha, I'd say. The manga and anime are both free online, but if Victorian horror/fantasy is not your thing, skip it and take pleasure elsewhere. There's plenty around.

actually Victorian horror/fantasy IS my thing and I'm the official reviewer for my magazine for this title so I WILL be reading it. ..only who knows when

And yes, I suppose it is true Ciel wields quite a bit of power over Sebastian who probably isn't too thrilled by it

I promise the first volume of the manga is delightful with nothing to worry you. It gets darker as it goes, but in a creepy Victorian way. Jack the Ripper and creepy circus, etc. I think it's well written and beautiful art. I hope you'll decide you like it (esp knowing the end of the anime is irrelevant to the manga, kinda like original FMA anime vs. manga).

I've read volume one. waiting on volume two.

it DOES help knowing the end of the anime has little to do with the manga. Granted that is often the case.
