Jun. 13th, 2010 09:30 pmokay the neighbors are all out in the courtyard having a BBQ and playing corn hole (no it doesn't mean what you think it means). I've been out there three times (once to ask about the cat, once to look for Kanda and once for my garden). No one invited me. Even the landlord and wife are there. Do they think I should invite myself? I hate that. I don't DO that. Don't get me wrong. I have nothing in common with these people. (for example another cop showed up and took away one of them) I don't really want to hang with them but it just feels ...weird. Even the people who moved in on friday are there (though they may already know the skanks from next door)
Speaking of the garden, they had half gallon plants in the take it away pile because the blooms are gone. I picked up a huge foxglove and a mess of coreopsis for 4$ each at Krogers. Mom wants some.
I walked and drove around looking for Ling's body (no luck). I DID find out that the landlord (or someone but I'm thinking him) put up one row of apts atop the hill AND two duplex homes. I'm rather tempted by them but do I really want to move a half mile up the hill? I'd be away from a) idiot neighbors b) the freaking tractor trailers. It was NICE out last night but I can't open my windows when I sleep because all I hear is 18 wheelers.
Still ridiculously depressed. Was looking into Ayurvedic medicine (have been for for the past few years. took a 'what's my dosha' test again. I still come out mostly Pitta and almost as much vata. Listen to the description of Pitta People. In the body, pitta is the metabolic heat that transforms food into energy and in the person it's what animates the strong striver who lives to solve problems and surmount challenges. She's the competitor who's climbing the professional ladder, often in medicine or law, smart engaged, on point. She can also become part of the burn-out crowd. When pitta is too much she's the judgemental perfectionist. "That the surgeon throwing instruments across the operating room," Bhattacharya says, "the domineering parent, the 'my way or the highway control freak.' (guilty of the OR tantrum)
Health - inflammation is the common thread in pitta unwellness. It can derange digestion (heartburn, irritable bowel syndrome (all freaking weekend), the skin rashes (points to foot) and the hormonal system (thyroid and sex hormone disorders) (hello PCOS) THe remedy is straightfoward. Put out the fire.
One of my Indian coworkers practices this medicine. I think when we get back this fall I'll have a long talk with her. I figure it can't hurt me. The magazine had a weekend detox for the dosha but it begins with abulations before dawn and sitting and watch the sunrise. I laughed a long time. laughter is good medicine

Date: 2010-06-14 02:08 am (UTC)Would moving up the hill put you in safer place with the rains? And I take it the buildings are new, so maybe you'd avoid some of the fun apartment issues you've been having? I'm all about new, shiny living spaces if you can have them. XD
