You're Romana!

Silly Doctor. It's adorable, really, how hard he tries. And he is pretty brilliant, you'll give him that. But he always seems to overlook the obvious--including the fact that he's not the only Gallifreyan onboard, thank you very much. You are always calm and collected, and more often than not wonderfully witty, in the face of adversity. The Doctor knows he can count on you, even when you infuriate him!

I will not be. I already am Romana. :D

I may be able to fit back into it, now that I've lost weight. :D

I got Romana too. I wish I was that cool. I'm really far more of a Sarah Jane on my better days, but frankly - you remember that bit in Terror of the Autons where Jo spies on the Master all cool and then just knocks over a big pile of boxes, stands up and is, "er, hello". I think I would probably do something like that and be marching in the door hypnotised with a bomb strapped to me thirty seconds later.

snort. Actually I don't. I never watched the older Who's. I didn't care for them when I was younger.

I tried to find a clip on Youtube and failed. Some people find Jo rather sweet and she does get a bit more sensible later, but she mostly ran around bumping into things (the actress was shortsighted), wearing platform heels and screaming. She also made lots of coffee for the boys and got patronised a lot. The 1970s were fun?

ah well. thanks for trying. Yeah, just watched a movie in 2008 where the girls pretty much did the same thing. Apparently in Hollywood unless the girl IS the action here that's all a woman can do is run around, scream and get captured

And that's what I like about FMA?

Manga, that is. I seem to remember anime Winry did a fair amount of getting kidnapped and screaming (although probably only the same amount as Al).

yes that is very nice in FMA, no screeching helpless females.

Apart from Rose, I guess. But even she gets her shit together in the manga.

yes in the manga Rose is just a woman who took her mourning a bit far then took Ed's comments to heart.

Anime Rose should have just died....and I killed her in at least one of my stories. (Boy the manga and new anime had to be hard on the Ed/Rose shippers)

Even Garfiel isn't too much of a screaming 'female'

I adored Jo. As I think I've mentioned.

(Hey, at least she had a reason to hold hands with the Doctor all the time. And Pertwee, yes, I would be happy to hold hands with him. Or his absolutely adorable son, whom I recognized by voice before seeing that memorable nose in a Father Cadfael episode [livejournal.com profile] silvrethorn brought to show me, lo these many decades ago.0

Yes, I think you did. I definitely see why people do, and I like her in Frontier in Space when she gets a bit more capable, but I'm more of a Sarah Jane girl. And I like the Brigadier. He's awesome.

It's funny, I was having a conversation just yesterday with a friend (not a Who fan particularly) who was saying she fancied Jon Pertwee.

I met Jon Pertwee. He was delightfully charming. :D So was Liz Sladen.

I also met Mr. Courtney, and he was a hoot and a half. Did you know he played Professor Scott in the revival of The Rocky Horror Show in London in the '80's? He sang Let's Do The Time Warp for us at a con. VERY DIFFERENT THAN Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. A very cheeky fellow. :D

I have heard Lis Sladen is lovely. I had a 10 second conversation at a con with her once where she asked me for directions. I was impressed with how glam she was. She's aged amazingly well.

No, I did not know that about Nick Courtney! That's fun.

I also met Colin Baker...he was rather amusing, as he played the part at the con. :D Including wearing that horrid mismatched coat and trou.

I thought sure I'd get Jo or possibly Sarah Jane, but I was very pleased to pull Donna. :-)

I'm just glad I didn't get Peri.

I don't know that one either. I was not a who fan before Nine

I wasn't really, either (I'd seen a couple Four and a few Six), but in the years since the re-launch, I've watched a LOT of DVDs.

I've debated doing that. It might be interesting to see the evolution

Some of the frustrating part is a LOT of One and Two are flat out missing (the BBC didn't realize the historical and commercial value of the shows, not realizing people would want to re-watch them ever, and in a lot of cases, old tape was simply re-used); and there's still a great deal that hasn't been released on DVD yet, although in the last five years there have been a huge number of released, and it's hard to keep up! I still haven't watched the last season of Patrick Troughton (Two), which was recently released, and he's my favorite! I have seen a great deal of Three and most of Five, though, and most of the two final seasons of Four.

that's sort of sad but not terribly unexpected.

most of what I've seen of the old ones was Tom Baker naturally. PBS used to rerun them.

Yeah, I find myself in a strange minority in that Tom Baker is actually about my least favorite, although he's got some good (even great) stories (notably Genesis of the Daleks); I think that's why it took me so long to really become a fan, since he was the only one I ever saw.

ditto. I didn't care for him either which is why I never watched the show until it's current rebirth
