I almost had nothing for this week then I had a thought about stoking the muse. What do YOU do to keep the muse going, besides actually writing.

For me, it's car time. The sad thing about living so close to work is I don't have disconnected time in the car to just write. This is why I love to drive around. My brain gets moving. Now the hard part is remembering it all when i get home.

Coffee houses do it for me too. Yeah that's cliche I know. Libraries too. I need to disconnect from the net and just write. It's not the same doing it at home because I see the things I need to clean or do and it throws me off.

My muse like music too so sometimes just putting on the right cd helps.


As for my writing, yeah let's just call it too hot to write. The only progress I made was on the elf thing

I do a lot of the mental work of writing in the shower, which always held true for papers and stuff in college too. I guess I do a lot of thinking in there, in general. I also often try to jump-start the muse by re-reading fic with the same pairing or a similar premise, or by watching episodes of whatever show I'm writing for, but usually that devolves into just reading and watching things instead of writing.

Oof. Cannot write in public. Cannot write with any sounds like music or anything else evocative in hearing range. It totally distracts me. If music does inspire something, I listen to it and turn it off before writing.

Yeah, like my boss. Every time we are all quietly working on our actual work with no chattering, he has to come in the office and make remarks about it. I think it makes him anxious.
