a tale of two cats
Oct. 16th, 2010 12:51 pmI was running late this morning (sat around drinking tea and rewatching my Soul Eater dvd. So I was not happy when Oscar the cat charged right in. Oscar, as you may remember, is the next door neighbor's cat who looks just like Kanda. I'm rather irritated with them. Otis, the dog has been chained outside non-stop for at least a week and I'm not sure when the last time Oscar was inside. He's been trying to come inside MY place for the last three days (in which I haven't seen the neighbors nor have they taken a package off their porch. However, Otis disappeared, either taken in/away or ran away).
Anyhow, when I open the door and struggle out with the laundry basket, Oscar races in. Kanda is still in my bedroom messing around with the stripped off bedding. I grab Oscar and haul him out. I realize a) he's heavier than I thought b) much dirtier. He looks up at me and charges for the door but that's now shut. He looks up again and I see his eyes are a mess...and that they aren't the owl eyes Oscar and Kanda have. This isn't on second glance a Holstein kitty. It's a tuxedo.
In a small voice, I ask, Roy? He immediately flops off the porch and does the squirm on the sidewalk thing Roy always did. I take a good luck. Son of a bitch, it's Roy. He ran away from the woman who took him and he's BACK. And he looks sick. If he sticks around again, I'll have to take him back to the vet.
Of all damn things...ROY. Mom said now you have 3 cats (assuming I'm keeping Oscar when the neighbors eventually, inevitably abandon him too). The thing is Roy will always be the complex cat. Obviously taking him away does nothing.
My problem is, I think having another cat might actually stress Kanda out and not be seen as a buddy to play with. (and Roy's not into playing with kittens. He's proven that one)

Ok, she added her opinion of people who dump animals, too, and that neighbor never came back. But the cat stayed another 10 years.
On another note, I have 3 cats and they all hate each other. They work out their turf and it's a cold war 99% of the time, but they all seem happy enough. As long as the other cats stay out of range.
