Seriously, I trekked up to Chillicothe tonight to find a dress to wear as a witch (since all my dresses are too flashy and hell a REAL dress is less money than a costume one). No dresses. and for the record, fuck you department store fashions. Just because I'm fat doesn't mean I want to dress dumpy. This is why I buy from Roamann's and onestopplus online. They get that heavy people want to look NICE too. Sears, JCPenny's, Ellenbergman & Kohl's all had nothing. (no shoes either but some truly horrifically high heels or flats too wide for my narrow tootsies).

The only dress they DID have was the sweater dress. OMG WHY? The last time this fashion nightmare was around I was 5'9" 120 pounds tops and even then the sweater dress made me look fat as a house. I don't even want to think about it now. It'll be like an acrylic yarn circus tent shambling around.

I did order my dress from onestopplus but not the prettier of my two choices. It was backordered until January... Hopefully this thing fits.

I did get some wigs from the halloween store and Joann fabrics. The halloween store was pathetic but I did see it was near Ollies which i didn't know we have since this is a dingy old strip mall. I Should have went to Barbersville WV and gone to hot topics. sigh. It's just further and I had to go after work.

I did have a cute young waitress at Tumbleweed's who tried to make me feel good about sitting alone with a book (I don't mind this to be honest) and was impressed by my now very faded mehendi tatt. He's starting to draw them for customers now. I just wanted to take Cruz home...

I found out i was right the first time about that new prof. He IS Bob Fish (we have a Bob Fisher too). Hee

My bad boyfriend came home again today. For the newer people on my LJ that's what I called Roy the cat because he only shows up making nice when he wants something.

Otis the dog tried to get in too. Sigh.

this plant disappointed me SO MUCH. I loved it. It was gorgeous. I just got it 2 weeks ago at Bob Fest. It was such a water pig that it died in two days. I'm trying to save it but I don't think I can.

Do you guys have Ross out there? At least down here, they have a GREAT selection of plus sizes -- pretty things, too!

Hey, I LOVE sweater dresses! I finally got rid of mine when I got to heavy to wear them, then I lost a ton of weight AND they came back into fashion -- I'd kill to have 'em now! *grin*

no ross's here. No Macy's either (which is where i get most of my stuff...on the 75% off rack). I have to go to Columbus or to Barbersville in WV to get that.

hahaha, well they're b ack. go nuts. I always hated those sweater dresses

Well, phoo.

I can't find one I like, actually. Got a nice tunic-length sweater at Macy's (yeah, on sale), but I haven't seen a sweater dress like the one I had.

We need to trade, as they keep my office roughly the temperature of the Arctic...

Heh. Roy is a bad boyfriend.

And yes, I really hate the store fashions. I actually get clothing from the mens section because they have something other than sequined tops that someone from a bingo hall would wear and have blue hair. *snort* And pastels. I want some real color, people.

he's a very bad boyfriend

pastels are horrible on me. Luckily Macy's (if you get their stuff on sale) is cheaper than most (in spite of their rep) and has decent stuff. otherwise, i get it on line

Is the real Bob Fish as cool and suave as I am?

I loled at the sweater dress comment. I'm pear-shaped, like 90% of British girls. The trend for 80s style tight trousers and baggy tops is doing nothing for me. ;_; Last time it was around I was a skinny a-cup twelve year old. Now I am, uh, not. It kind of looked okay on me then?

No I think he's not. He looks like he's 12 and is a tiny dude.

I wasn't pear shaped in the 80's but now...yeah I don't want that trend back either

Mums are terrible water pigs. Someone has dumped two plants outside one of the doorways to the building and I've been watering them, trying to keep them alive. One's come back, the other's still sickly. I feel bad for the poor things

Sorry about your dress?

Eww, the return of the sweater dress! Not that I wore them first time around....

I never grow mums but this was so pretty. I had no idea they needed this much water

I bought the second dress I showed you (well the first one)

Mom's the only one I know who can leave a mum unwatered and it live. Figure that one out. It survived being in a pot since last year and is blooming. Mine all shrivel up and die within two weeks of me getting them.

that's what mine's doing. sigh

I know they do way better in the ground than in their pot.

*sigh* Yeah, that's why mine never get into the ground.

The secret to keeping potted water hogs alive is putting the pot in a dish. I have a big old plastic gardening tray that I can get six or seven pots into, and I keep it half-full of water during dry spells. The plants wick it up through the drainage holes, and you can go several days without watering (plus, when you top-water, the water doesn't run out the bottom of the pots and get wasted).

I always hated the way panty lines show on sweater dresses. You can't wear anything under them without looking tacky (and if you do wear nothing under them, you look like a hooker).

Decent dresses are so hard to find... I've noticed a growing trend of dress departments or dress stores (rather than dresses just mixed in with everything else, the way it used to be). The same thing is happening with men's suits. We can't buy Barry's suits at Penny's anymore or Sears or Bealle's - They only have separates now. We have to go to a suit store.

you may be right. However, at least the online plus shops have lovely and inexpensive dresses. I don't mind buying them online (I do mind buying pants since it's so expensive to mailback.)
