Well I do need to lose weight... I made a celebratory dinner a day early (tomorrow is the last day of class then finals). Only to find out my butter was rancid. ALL of my butter including the sticks still in the freezer (yes, i'll be looking for the receit) So that was ruined. Made due. Tried to supplement what was left with leftover gnocchi only to find a BONE in the sauce. At first I thought it was another tooth but no. So I'm up to two huge hunks of bone and two rubber glove tips found in my food in the last 6 years. God. Wish I could grow it all.

I did make salsa today though and the only thing I didn't grow was the onions and cilantro (well I did the latter but it died when i moved it into our crappy greenhouse)

I suddenly got sad. I don't know why. Well okay not sad. Just simply started crying and I'm fairly sure it's hormones. Then I saw one of the h.s. people i just reconnected with post about her mom having alzheimer's and my stuff didn't seem so bad. For that matter, talked to my brother too and he's just really sick with his ulcerative colitis. Poor Mom, between her mother in the nursing home and her two kids both pretty damn ill from incurable, chronic illnesses she has to be pretty stressed.

But in good news [livejournal.com profile] 12_daysofficmas is open. This is NOT JUST ANIME for all the other people on my flist. Any fandom you want (any new Holmes fanficcers? the only new show that I know people were into, how about some old school Buffy or Star Trek). It doesn't have to just be fic either but it has to be something YOU did, no reccs

and [livejournal.com profile] bob_fish did a speed beta on my [livejournal.com profile] se_ladyfest fic. THANK YOU. Wanna beta an anatomy test. Or how about writing it for me?

or so I assume since it was posted via phone. our walmart just doesn't get it.

Crying because of hormones and dinner problems. ::hugs::

Hanukkah ham. ::bangs head against wall:: Somehow I'm not surprised Wal-Mart is that clueless.

My sister once worked for a cleaning agency, and I think they used phosporic acid to remove lime scale. It was something a normal person couldn't get and shouldn't use.

Rubber glove tips and bones? Rancid butter? D: I think at this point, no one would fault you for getting some fast food. God knows I'd be out of my mind.

...Wow. Walmart, you're doing it wrong! :\ They're going to get some terrible complaints about that, I'd bet.

12_daysofficmas looks fun! I'm tempted to participate. Thanks for pointing that out.

haha that would take me driving a min of 10 miles to get it. i'm too lazy

you know, I'm not even sure there are enough Jewish people here to notice. It's frighteningly homogenized here

it is fun. i did it last year and [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog is the mod

Oh wow, for real? You poor thing! Haha, I'd be too lazy too, I guess, if that was the case. But we have a McD's every mile or so from where I am XD

I'm going to give it a try, I think. If I start writing now, I can probably produce enough fic to get through all twelve days!

Two of our cats love to play. The one likes it so much that we hear her chirping away and thing someone is up there but when we go and check on her, no she's ALL by herself having a party in the tub. Roomie thinks she likes it because she can slide all over the place.

I looked at one fic request site. People wanted Sherlock Holmes fic, but most didn't specify _which_ Sherlock. Doyle's original? The Downey movie? Jeremy Brett's BBC version? The new Benedict Cumberbatch BBC version? I don't think anybody's asking for Basil Rathbone Sherlock fic, but how would I know from reading their requests? Anyone filling these requests, unless it's straight-up 'ship fic with no mystery involved, would be insane, by the way. Holmes stories are _hard_ to do unless you're A. Conan Doyle, and they probably weren't that easy even for him.

From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
yes I have to admit mostly Sherlock Holmes fanfic seems to be mostly Holmes and Watson doing the slap and tickle

Date: 2010-12-07 10:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] silvrethorn.livejournal.com
Sigh. Then again, since respected professional writers have attempted Holmes stories and failed, maybe we're all better off with unambitious "between cases, between the sheets" stories.

this is true. I couldn't make it thru the first laurie king mrs. sherlock holmes mystery. maybe i was in a bad mood but it was rather dull

Ha! I ran across one of those Mrs. Holmes things in my repair stack and browsed it. You weren't in a grumpy mood. They're just mediocre (and the concept made my toes curl anyway, ugh!)

that too. I was shocked the Baker Street crew that has kept SUCH a tight hold on all things Holmesian allowed it.

If anything it should have been Irene Adler as the wife

Date: 2010-12-08 01:13 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] silvrethorn.livejournal.com
It's not Adler who's the wife??? I didn't pay any attention to the name. I just assumed it was Irene. I can't imagine who else he would theoretically marry.

Do the Baker Street bunch have any actual legal firepower, or has Holmes gone into the public domain? I'm sure reputable writers using the character would want Baker Street's blessing, but I don't know that they actually _need_ them anymore.

Date: 2010-12-08 02:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
no i don't believe it is Adler. i could be wrong.

They USED to have legal firepower but I think that may have ended
