A challenge for the new year
Jan. 8th, 2011 10:00 pmto all my creative friends. Finish something from last year. A story you neglected, original fiction or fan fic. Not a writer? How about finishing that art panel or pick that knitting back up. Let's see something completed this year
As for me I'm not counting the big bangs. Those are part of a challenge so...I was thinking more of one of the two FMA stories I started and never finished or Hyperion's Son and for original fiction, Splinters of Silver and Cold Iron or Until the Ice Breaks.
As for my car, I know the two Honda dealers I've been to in the past will not take you in immediately so that leaves the one in Portsmouth. Glockner, they always send me ads but i've never been there since everyone says there's no reason to go to Portsmouth (well they were right about that). Just like the other two it is also nearly 50 miles away. Naturally my GPS is out to kill. Rather than give the major route number (I.e. US -32, you know the MAIN ARTERY to Cinicinnati in this region) it tells me some local number of a road that runs parallel with it. I figure it's wrong and continue on my way and it recalculates...to take me down some snowy goat path that I nearly slide off on. This place still has the old fashioned guard rails (i.e wooden posts and wire). I say screw this and go back a few blocks to the library.
Okay I was right, I needed to go on 32 to 23. I finally get underway and I get there just in time for the place to close down for lunch...Naturally about 10 miles into this the noise STOPS. At this point I assume it was something in my brakes that fell back out (we use both rock salt and cinders here) I go to Tim Hortons for a nigh inedible lunch. I couldn't eat the soup, it was that gross.
I give up and go back to the garage. They have a massage chair in the waiting room. I'm the only person here on a weekend (not good for this place). I plop down in the massage chair and take it for a spin. Twenty minutes and one test drive later, yep either there was crap up in the brake or a wet, swollwn pad. Brakes are fine. Go home. No charge. Not even for their time. YAY.
must find time once I get classes started to get this house weather proofed. 125$ for an electric bill for a month I was barely here and it's only 62 in this place. which even for me is a tad chilly

mom always wanted an amarylls for the holidays. I got her one 2 years ago that she had to grow herself. She was unamused. it grew two leaves, lived those 2 years then croaked without blooming. For the first time in forever, i found already blooming ones

Date: 2011-01-09 04:59 am (UTC)Taking the Appalachian Highway would definitely have made more sense than what your GPS told you. No question ther. I'm surprised they didn't even have the Appalachian cleared though. Did you all get more snow down there in the hills than we got here in Dayton?

Date: 2011-01-09 05:03 am (UTC)we got about 2-3 inches and nothing was cleared even at 1030 which was pretty pathetic. that is also par for the course here

Date: 2011-01-09 05:39 am (UTC)I have seen rural routes torn down to the dirt to rebuild the grade during reconstruction. maybe that's what was going on. Now I'm going to have to drive down there and see what's wrong with that road.
Oooh.. sorry I got distracted by google maps following the Little Miami Scenic Bikeway down from Xenia station to see how close I could get to that dealership on my bike hahaha.

Date: 2011-01-09 03:15 pm (UTC)I do have two from last year I have begun and not finished, a longish Havoc/Rebecca and the also fairly long Ed/Win get-together I've been toying with for ages. It's tempting to see if the latter will fit to a springkink prompt, because that would make me get it done. It will contain much fumbling and goob!sex, especially on Ed's part.

Date: 2011-01-09 04:39 pm (UTC)I'll have to see what I have unfinished. Mostly in the realm of knit/cross stitch/handicraft area, I believe, rather than writing projects (although the NaNo DOES need to be finished one day).

Date: 2011-01-09 10:12 pm (UTC)Also, you should check out habitforge.com. You put a goal in and it emails you daily for 21 days to see if you've done it. "They" say it takes 21 days to build a habit....
(also also, 4 days in a row of going to the gym and walking on the treadmill and cutting WAY down on the snackage. Preemptive weight post is preemptive))
