disappointment
Jan. 27th, 2011 11:13 pmI hurt. This is the first time both formerly broken ankles acted up in concert. ouch. my shoulder is so bad my muscles are in a spasm all the way up to and including my left jaw. I slept bad as a result but we were going to have six inches of snow. I hobble to the window in the morning, hoping the damage is enough I can just go back to bed and what do I see, six inches of bare dirt. spiffy. Oh but all that rain yesterday? yeah it froze into an iceberg filled with cars out in the parking lot. Disappointing
TV shows that disappoint. Well I've talked about THe Cape and Bob's Burgers. have some true crime stuff that disappoints.
(I Almost) got away with it - I guess they decided to tell the crime and how the criminals were apprehended from the criminal's pov which ends up being a pity party for the scumbag. um no.
Stolen Voices Buried Memories - this takes a riff from hollywood where we hear the victim talk in her/his own voice. Okay in real crime it's freaking creepy and the advertising for htis is annoying, they use the young cute girl's portion and make it the ad. if it's an older woman/man we don't see it.
James Ellroy's LA (or whatever it's called) Okay I like Ellroy's fiction but he is seriously weird. i knew this from Murder by the Book where he looked at his own mother's murder (and accused her of leading him in an incestous relation with her). He likes to talk with this overblown 1930's radio melodrama voice and at the end he was talking to a semi-animated dog. WTF???
I'm also disappointed that my 21 meditation challenge via Deepka Chopra's group, is streaming audio only. last time we could download. sigh.
As far as writing is going, two springkinks done, no big bang progress and here check out this on saving a scene. check out jan 27’s post I wish i could link just to the article but i can't figure out how on this blog. Also check out

Date: 2011-01-28 04:27 am (UTC)That LA thing sounds weird as hell. An incestuous relationship with his murdered mother and then an animated talking dog? Uh, okay... >_>
And I'm working on that fic as I type! :)

Date: 2011-01-28 11:46 am (UTC)Also, they can relieve drama in a way that heightens it just because they're less intense and focused. My current Big Bang chapter has a lot of intense two-person scenes, so I feel the need to relieve it with a busy, warm comedy scene of the tachi being goobers.
An astute reader of NSI once pointed out to me another disadvantage of focusing too much on two person drama scenes: you end up having characters only interacting with those they have dramatic conflict or very close attachment. So I had Ed only really interacting with Al and Roy, Rebecca talking to Havoc, Riza and occasionally Roy - sometimes you have to pull back your focus and break this stuff up, especially if you're dealing with a larger cast like a team or a family, by showing them all interacting together and reminding us they're a unit.

I glanced down the blog and found another that recommended that you solve writing problems by "turning them over to Jesus". Not a method I'm likely to be trying soon (but before I mock too much I should probably say that acceptance and letting go might actually be quite useful), but it made me want to there to be a "Jesus is my beta" icon. XD

Date: 2011-01-28 03:17 pm (UTC)I've gotten out of the habit of reading comments on blogs like this mostly because I see them like news articles and I've been scared to death by comments. I have yet to have Jesus come help me write. I've seen Hanuman in a few dreams. Does that count?

Date: 2011-01-28 08:17 pm (UTC)No surprise sex for Soul today. he's been licking his incision sites so his balls (well what's left) are all swelled up and sore and we had to go in the carrier for a ride thru the snow to the vet's

Date: 2011-01-28 02:20 pm (UTC)As for "Stolen Voices Buried Memories" - too freaky. Don't want to hear a dead person telling me how they died.
Lastly, James Ellroy needs to find a circus that is hiring freaks. He'd be great.
I will admit I like the "Main Street Mysteries"... especially since they featured a murder from Ironton, OH, on it! LOL!
I will never be able to visit your house as I would try to steal Soul. He is beyond cute!

I do like that one. I just had hopes for the others (well not so much James's I knew he was weird)
hahaha today i'd give you the monster
