weight off week 5
Feb. 6th, 2011 09:49 pmI'm not going to lie. this post is going to be abbreviated but not because I'm watching the Superbowl (well I am) but because my shoulder is killing me so badly sitting and typing is not a happy thing.
How did we do this week? I maintained. I suspect I'll be writing that one a lot.
Last week
ishte offered up this link: my fitness pal I haven't looked at it yet but you might find it helpful.
BROCCOLI FLORETS WITH MEYER LEMON OLIVE OIL (GIADA De Laurentiss)
Ingredients
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper
• 1 1/2 pounds broccoli florets
• 3 tablespoons Meyer lemon olive oil
Directions
Fill a large pot halfway with water. Cover and bring the water to a boil over high heat. Salt the water and add the broccoli. Boil until the broccoli is crisp-tender, about 5 minutes.
Drain, transfer the broccoli florets to a large bowl, and toss with the oil to coat. Season the broccoli florets with salt and pepper, to taste, and serve.
Honestly if you can't find Meyer Lemon olive oil (and most of us can't) you can just take a little olive oil, mix it with a teaspoon or two of meyer lemon juice or more likely regular lemon juice (if you dying for the more sweet, floral meyer taste, add a bit of honey to it)

Date: 2011-02-07 03:03 am (UTC)I bought 2 cardio DVD's today (Taebo) to change up my exercise routine and had my ass handed to me when I put one on. I had to youtube earlier Taebo workouts to confirm he has made the choreography about 500 times harder in the new DVDs (I used to use some of his tapes on VHS all the time years back). I may be too uncoordinated for the new ones. D: These were on clearance 2 for $10, so I'm not too upset about having bought them and not being able to do them, like, ever. But I do need to find some new DVDs I can actually handle (Zumba clips look promising).

Date: 2011-02-07 03:29 am (UTC)I've never had much luck with calorie counting, I seem to do much better with just eating sensibly. I also seem to be having some luck with switching to water after lunch, rather than coffee. (That could have something to do with how I take my coffee -- sweet and light, heh)

Date: 2011-02-07 03:34 pm (UTC)Now if you know you're stressed, I will say that some good exercise will help. Walk off the stress. Get out and just walk around the block a few times. Take the dog with you. Exercise releases endorphins which make your brain happier and you body as well. Plus it raises your metabolism so that if you DO have a freak out and eat a bowl of chips more of it is going to be burned off.

Date: 2011-02-07 06:29 pm (UTC)Thanks. Steelers' MO has always been to be a come back from behind team but they made way too many mistakes and Green Bay outplayed them

Date: 2011-02-07 03:30 pm (UTC)I weighted 149.9 yesterday. Today I didn't think about the scale until I was already dressed with 1.5 meals in me hahaha.
I don't have a recipe to share right now, but I do really like myfitnesspal.com a lot. It helps me keep track of what I eat and what exercise I get. It has some neat tools and the ability to friend people. There are also discussion forums. so it's pretty full service.

Date: 2011-02-07 03:46 pm (UTC)Special K Cracker Chips!
First off, they are yummy. They come in two flavors, plain with sea salt and sour cream and onion. The second is my favorite.
Now for the best part: You know how most 'diet' chips and snacks the serving size is so ridiculously small that you may as well have got a regular bag of chips and eat the same ten chips? Well not so with these. You get 27 chips in a serving. basically that's about the amount that fits in a cereal bowl without overflowing. And only 110 calories. That's really something. AND doesn't taste like it's made primarily of sawdust? Bonus!
I've always like special K products. The breakfast cereal with strawberries is very good too. (same 110 calories. (On the dietary exchange it's 1 1/2 carbohydrates 1/2 fat) Here's more info: http://www2.kelloggs.com/ProductDetail.aspx?id=24151

Date: 2011-02-08 05:05 am (UTC)Sorry about the Steelers (but as you said, at least your next-fav team won!). And it was a pretty good game, anyway, even if there were some crap plays there were some good runs.
