doesn't mean i have to like it. Went shopping with mom. That was good but it was an overall downer to learn not only is the Borders closing here but ALL the ones in Columbus are too. Granted I do buy most of mine at borders.com but when it comes to manga i like to LOOk at the damn art first. I like holding the book in my hand. Sigh. One lady working there had a very calm attitude toward it. 'We put the small book stores out of business and now online is doing that to us.' Guess that's true. Sadly Barnes and Nobles is still here but the ones in PA and Columbus censor the books, might be true nation wide (Walmart does too which is why I will not buy books from them). Our B&N's carry ZERO gay manga. Okay, I don't really read yaoi much but it does offend me to have it purposefully withheld.

I did buy a lot of manga at 30% off and felt bad doing it. Got some costume jewelry and a shirt at Macy's. tried on a dress for the wedding but it was pathetic so the hunt continues (not even sure i'm going)

My brother has to go in for another medical procedure tomorrow. They're injecting steriods right into his colon.

My aunt who is very ill might not live out the week or might go for months but I doubt she'll make the year.

Another friend of the family has been snowed under on morphine. she has days left

so far 2011 can bite me

Photobucket

he came up to the back porch today. notice he's n ot eating that food. nor running from us. he's emaciated and has the head tilt and the stagger but he managed to get to the woods by the time we got the gun (yes, he's rabid, yes death would be a mercy, yes would feel a little bad to shoot him, yes I'm capable)

Poor coon, but I'm not surprised.

Your Borders are going, too? I still couldn't afford any manga at the prices they wanted for it at Borders, even at 30% off, and what I really wanted, wasn't even there. *sigh*

2011 has been iffy for me and mine, too.

he's just a baby too. really wish we could have put him down. You can see the suffering in his face.

yeah sucks

Maybe you should alert the authorities about that coon, we have to do that around here...if we don't get to it first with the firepower. Even then we're inclined to alert the authorities so they can put out the rabies alert.

I hope your brother starts doing better.

amazon charges me extra because of where i live. borders doesn't. I DO buy my DVDs from them

thanks about my brother

yeah i noticed it slowly and was told when I asked about one i DID want that that sort of manga wasn't carried because kids look at manga. Guess we can't let them see gay people

Yeah, it's really sad. Poor baby.

No books...sigh. No borders. Sigh. "You can still order on line!" But I'm like you, i want to see it first.

Rogue is nudging me and saying it's time for bed.

Boo, change.

The Borders I shop at is closing, too. There's one about twenty minutes out, but I hate the layout of it. We have a B&N five minutes away, but I haven't shopped there in years. Aside from the yaoi manga thing, they have shit customer service. I refuse to give them my money.

I hope your brother's procedure goes well! *crosses fingers*

): Poor raccoon. If he comes by again, have the gun ready? It's so sad to leave them that way...

Yeah, manga was one of the things I looked at for 30% off; I was going to check back in a couple weeks and see what's left, since a lot of them I'd have to buy a LOT of books, since I don't have any of them.

Poor coon. Poor you. Bad year, needs to ease up on you!

*sigh of relief* Thank you sweetheart. That poor creature...made my heart ache just to see the photo. You just know part of him realized something was wrong, which is probably why he came to the door and the food. He was asking for help.

Poor raccoon. Hope Rogue was inside. Rabid critters really freak me out. Sorry. Saw a groundhog that was rabid. Freaky.

Our Border's is staying open - thank God! It's the ONLY bookstore here in York.

I don't believe that censoring books is right. Seig heil, to you, too, MFers. >:(

Prayers and wishes for your family and friends.

Most of my books come from the library but manga, unless you get them for me, at this point.

I'm probably part of the online shopping that puts stores out of business. Everything I buy almost is online.

But I seriously dislike how certain things are censored or withheld like that. Is there another bookstore that might carry it?

Sending your family good thoughts. That sure is a lot all at once. *hugs*

Aww raccoon. Poor guy.

We have two used book stores in this town, and I don't think I've been in either of them more than once. I buy most of my books, used and otherwise, online from Alibris and AbeBooks. Do I feel a little bad passing over the local businesses for online ones? Yeah, a little, but frankly the local stores' prices are so much higher than Alibris's, even with shipping, that I have no incentive not to be selfish. Sigh.

Borders never made it here. Our only choices were Waldenbooks in the mall (long gone now), Books a Million, and B&N. B&N moved way the hell out beyond the west end of town, farther than I care to drive on congested roads, which leaves the cluttered and inventory-challenged BaM as our only local source for new books. Double sigh.

I'm kinda bummed about Borders, too, because they not only were the closest big bookstore to me, they also had the coffee shop that was open the latest (since my beloved Unlimited Coffee failed).

Sorry for all the health problems in you and your family.

Yikes, rabid raccoon! (Okay, that sounds like another one of those Wii games...)
