Well I think I might have lost a pound. The scale is on crack so who knows for sure.

I did start up a little tai chi this week. Not really going to get me moving but it I hurt so much doing a program aimed at 70 year olds (the dvd, not tai chi in particular) then I need this step to get active again.

I was going to link up to a cool weight loss site but it's broken at the moment.

[livejournal.com profile] ital_gal might be by with a recipe later too but in the meantime here's another healthy one from me.

Fresh Pea Hummus

1 cup of peas
ΒΌ cup fresh cilantro
2 tbsp tahini (note you can substitute almond/peanut butter here)
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 clove garlic
1/8 tsp cumin
Salt to taste

Bring a small pot of water to boil and add in the shelled peas. Cook until tender @ 2 min. drain, run under cold water.

Put the peas in a food processors, pulse, add in the rest of the ingredients pulse until smooth

1 serving @ 74 calories though there are 7 gms of carbs due to the peas and tahini (Note if using the peanut butter make it one low on sugar. They exist with as little as 2-3 gm sugar)

note- the reason I suggested the tahini substitutes is that tahini has reached prices of 10$/jar here

Registered at everydayhealth.com to start tracking calories. I need to sit down and enter all of my foods, which will be a pain, but the tracker journal tools are very cool and will be a big help once I get it all in.

Hey, a pound is good!

I've always thought tai chi was such a pretty work out. It interests me but I'm just not sure I have the stamina for such graceful moves. However, it always makes me think of Worf and Troi doing it on Star Trek cause I'm a big ol' dork. :)

I've got a lot of my regulars added in now and favorited, so that will make adding my food for the day a lot easier (will be one click now). The calorie counter journal is a lot of fun as it tracks both food and exercise (and also water). Let's see if this helps me knock off the last 9 lbs!

LOL Well that is where my crush on Brent Spiner began, with Data. I'm just saying! Looking like the android isn't so bad!

hahaha so true. You've probably not heard of Gabriel Brothers, an overstock company that's been around for decades in PA/WV but I've met the owner and he looks just like Spiner

well as it turns out, drinking wine and other fun and tasty alcohol based beverages even occasionally does effect your weight. Last week I went on a very strict no wine at all program - um sure it was to be rested for the 3 day wine tasting orgy that is Vinitaly, but still -- and low and behold lost a kilo and a half.
I guess I had been hoping that I could do diet and exercise and then I could still have some wine, but it looks like if I want to lose the weight I have to go to zero. Or at least until I start going down steadily. It`s all a bit of a drag since lots of my friends are in the wine business, I do a lot of tastings, I`ve been helping catalog the wines at my friends enoteca..... Plus, one of them recently asked me to help translate or contribute to their wine blog. grhhhhhh.
I guess I could try one or two superstrict weeks, alternating with one less strict.. guess I have to decide to want to fit into my old jeans more than I want to see how the new Tocai is tasting...
It`s a drag because generally things have not been going well, and working on the wine stuff has been kind of helping. It`s not so much the wine(don`t get the wrong idea)it`s the project and the people.
Still the looser pants made me feel better too....

maybe an actual taste (as opposed to a glass) will be doable so you can help your friends and still lose weight.

boy that sucks
