Osama Bin Laden is dead.

I can't think of anything to add to that

I can, but this is a public forum. And you've been getting my reactions all along.

I watched the news feed and cried.

Being pagan I cried for all those that died because of Osama Bin Laden's evil insanity...I cried for all those who suffered because of him...I cried for the military of all nations that were involved in this...and I cried for innocence lost.

According to the party going on outside in the street right now, I'm a supposed to be feeling a sense of happiness and excitement.

Right now I'm kinda "Um...okay." about the whole thing. Not really sure what to think.

that's pretty much it

How about "good riddance"?

Sorry, I know, even I'm conflicted (and I was living here in New York on 9/11). There are precious few people I'd rejoice to hear were dead. He was on my short list. Though actually I kind of wish they'd taken him alive.

I'm a little concerned for us all, especially since I'll be flying international soon enough

Another thing I thought last night when I heard this was 'okay, who is the one who is going to replace him to keep this crap going.'

because there will be someone. Way too early to be celebrating....much

This. This is what concerns me.

I'm sure he wouldn't have been taken alive, regardless.

oh hell no. This is just the beginning of the next phase of war really.

though after kicking Donald Trump in the face earlier this week then ordering this, Obama is finally moving off dead center at long last. probably too little too late but we shall see. Now all he needs to do is make the gas go back down and he might actually get a second term

Yup. We'll see what happens. In everything. :D

While it is great that one of the most notorious criminals of the century has been brought to justice, we must recall that a human life has been ended, a life of the same kind that he himself took away from so many others. We should celebrate the families who now have a sense of closure, the 'resolution' of countless crimes. But death itself is never something to be celebrated.

We should say thank you to our troops and the troops around the world, that God bless not only the United States but every country, and this is my two cents on the matter.

From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
this is true but I'm betting there is no sense of closure for anyone. There never is in these cases

this is just the beginning of more war but I am always thankful to our troops

I guess you could say closure in the sense that this is one more madman gone that we don't need to worry about, one less nutjob out to get us, but it could really go any way at this point.

It makes me sad to hear how people don't support any country's troops out wherever they are. The troops don't put themselves in their stations, and if it weren't for them keeping us safe then the complainers might not even be alive to do their complaining. Do some of the troops do horrible and unnecessary things out there, like needless torture and whatnot? Of course yes, but that doesn't make them all bad guys. Human stupidity never ceases to amaze me. - le sigh -

there is no end to human stupidity either.

I've been active in veterans affairs most of my adult life and there is often very little support.

I would like to say I'm happy about this, but the damage has been done. I am also afraid that other will just follow in his footsteps. There is always someone like him out there somewhere.

When I heard the radio this morning, my reaction was, "Huh."

I'm sure this is not the end of anything, though.

And America, Fuck Yeah seems oddly appropriate for once. Or maybe I'm just an asshole (it's possible).

yeah I'm sure it's not the end to anything and that I'm mildly creeped out by the parties.

but yes, that might just be an appropriate youtube

‎"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." -Martin Luther King Jr.

Friend posted that on her FB wall, and I liked it. It's also kind of scary and sad how little people change in that this quote is still so very relevant (when I wish it wouldn't need to be).
