I attended a workshop for undergraduate research today. It was good (also had a small honorarium and a free lunch). It was more of an argument why we should be doing it and bending the arms of administrators to do it. I liked it.

I was less impressed with the lack of a response to my plea for help with labs this summer. thanks guys

also my left thumb suddenly has tendonitis. WTF?

the workshop took all day so it was an otherwise slow day.

the student loan people are calling again...

my neighbors have offered to water my flowers all summer. These ladies are new, they don't even know me. I thought that was nice, nicer than my coworkers going oops, enjoy.

Also it occured to me when I woke up at 6 AM (thank you thunder) that I will NOT be able to do my hair. I have a few options a) look like the wicked witch of the west b) wash just before going and putting in a little gel to help keep it curly c) wear a hat (the wig is too hard to get on) d) shave it all off (as gross as it's looking this is growing in appeal)

Photobucket

I even weeded it some. I'm finally to the point where the perennials are so big they've taken over

Your garden looks nice!

Die, student loan people, die.

And yay, thanks so much, co-workers.

Tendonitis? Universe, give it a rest!

Nice garden.

Too bad about the coworkers. Can you take care of your hair if you cut it short?

Wheeee new eggs! (clicks and thanks - I went and got me some)

P.S. I must have missed something - what happened with your hair?

new eggs are tiny

my hair is fine (well not really but as fine as it ever is) I'm about to have my shoulder reconstructed and may be in a sling for 2 months and unable to do my hair

Your co-workers are so helpful! /end sarcasm.

That's so nice of those new neighbors to offer to water your flowers.

One of my aunts goes back and forth between a buzz cut and a pixie short cut that she just puts gel in and goes. It looks so good on her too. Sometimes I really wanna shop my long hair off and go that route. I don't think the shape of my face could pull it off though so I always chicken out and keep my hair long.

yeah i'm actually surprised at the coworkers

it is nice

I'd go that route for now (I don't think it would look good on me either, face is too fat) but thanks to the PCOS, I have very little hair left. I'd probably look like those old dudes with a horseshoe of hair and a giant bald spot

Killing things until you find the few that thrive is the great secret of gardening. Then you can recommend the survivors to your friends and neighbors, and the plants will grow for them like they grew for you, and everyone will think you're a gardening genius.

I should probably tell you at this point that mitsuba is a weed. If you plant it in the actual dirt, it will make lots of seed heads and re-seed itself all over the place. I can think of lots of worse things to have as an infestation, though. Like sandspurs, say. At least mitsuba is lush and green and doesn't stick holes in your skin.

yes that's pretty much it, isn't it? go lillies go. goddamn weeds, they are.

snort. My mitsuba is in a pot. I could just shove som e of it in the weedy spots of the garden
