These drabbles were written for [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams  who wanted Willow/Lindsey for her holiday wishlist. So it's a themed set of Willow/Lindsey drabbles set BtVS S4/AtS S1. All are PG-13

Timing was everything. Willow’s getaway trip to L.A. to forget that Oz had left turned out better than she could have dreamed. She had met the cutest older man in the museum. Not too much older, just enough to be interesting. His blue eyes sparkled as he talked about the scroll his law firm, Wolfram and Hart, had donated. She was captivated. Lindsey had such an easy smile, she forgot to be shy. Outside of Giles, none of her friends really liked museums and going with Giles wasn’t the same thing. When Lindsey invited her to dinner, Willow couldn’t say no.

"His name is Lindsey," Willow told Buffy over the phone, wishing she could see her friend’s face. It wasn’t the same thing doing the girl-talk long distance. "Yes, I know I’m on the rebound, Buffy, but this feels so right...don’t talk to me about older men. I mean look at you, first Angel and then Riley." Willow’s face pinched. She hated the way Buffy sometimes talked to her like she was super naive and would be lost without her friend. "No, don’t tell Xander. I will when I get back to town.... Lindsey’s nice. I’ll take my time, I promise."

"I’ve never been to a restaurant this fancy before," Willow said, glancing around Spago’s. She almost bounced in her seat she was so excited and nervous. She was afraid it was too expensive and had to remind herself Lindsey was a lawyer, not a student. He could afford it.

"It’s about time, then. You deserve it. You’re one of the prettiest women I’ve ever seen," Lindsey said, resting his hand over hers.

Willow blushed, unable to speak. He called her a woman, not a girl. She couldn’t believe it. What had she done to deserve Lindsey? Fate was smiling.

Willow couldn’t believe she had found someone willing to go to Griffith observatory with her. Lindsey listened, fascinated as she talked about plotting time using star movement. Would Oz had been as attentive. She didn’t’ listen to her heart’s answer. Watching the stars with a handsome, smart man, this was what her daydreams had been like. Was Lindsey the man she had been waiting for all her life? What would she do when she had to go back to school? Should she think about trying to get into a school in L.A? Could she leave Buffy and her friends behind?

Willow looked out over the view of the city from Lindsey’s office having met him to go to an early dinner. She jumped as the door slammed open. Whirling she saw someone she wasn’t expecting. "Angel?"
Angel started at her, stunned. "Willow?"
"You’d better leave, Willow. This is between me and the vampire," Lindsey said.
"Angel, I don’t understand. Why are you here and so...mad?" Willow trembled.
"Willow, do you have any idea the evil Wolfram and Hart represents?" Angel asked, touching her arm.
Willow looked to Lindsey to deny it but he said nothing. Time stood still. Her heart broke.

Lindsey didn’t try to stop her as she headed back for Sunnydale. He didn’t even try to deny Angel’s accusations that Wolfram and Hart was trying to get to the vampire using his friends. Willow had been nothing more than a pawn, or was she? She thought she saw heartache in Lindsey’s eyes when she left him in tears. Maybe it had started out that way but had it been something more? She didn’t want to know. She couldn’t go back now. She had been hurt too badly. She just wanted the pain to end. It would in time, right?
