a day to remember
Jul. 6th, 2011 09:21 pmand what a day it was
Today was one giant ball of aggravation. I woke up at 3 AM with shoulder pain. Woke up again at 6 AM with migraine pain/nausea/sweating to death. I had to get up at 630 anyhow to make my PT evaluation so I dragged out of bed. You know the day is going to suck when physical therapy is literally the highlight of the day.
The occupational therapist I met was nice, knowledgeable and listened to me. She, like my brother (and myself) are very worried about frozen shoulder syndrome. It’s most often seen in forty year olds and above, females and diabetics. That’s three strikes for me. Her treatment plan didn’t differ too much from my brother’s for this first week. I’m to keep doing what I’ve been doing and she’s doing muscle releases of muscles not operated on because they’re in such spasms (your levator scapulae isn’t supposed to be a band, why is it a band) and that did free up the shoulder (and hurt like holy hell).
I get to the office 3 hours early which is okay. I need to get everyone enrolled in blackboard (the online portion) and get the first round of class notes printed off (the rest is on them). I go to the chem lab, steal some ice for the shoulder and sit down to my office computer. Have I mentioned it’s an XP that’s closing in on 8 years old? That it’s dying? It took those three hours to do that. In fact, somehow for this class ALL my lecture notes are missing. Gone. God knows where. Luckily I have them backed up on my R drive so I have those. The students’ notes however, have to be recreated.
When we first moved to Blackboard this May they said they couldn’t copy over from Webct, but they were wrong. Thank God. All the student notes are online but it’s going to take me forever to pull them back down as a back up on my hard drive. And my Blackboard tutorials were in April. I remember nothing and for some reason how to enroll the students was NOT in the tutorial. I called IT like 5 times and the guy who usually does this isn’t here this week and even the other IT guy is like why is this NOT in the tutorial. Yeah, no kidding, the most important part.
Once I finally get all that done, I make a call to the vet since no sooner did I post about them being good they pissed and shat on my carpet again. I haven’t heard back from the vet (maybe tomorrow) but I DID notice that when I immediately cleaned the box upon coming home instead of waiting til the evening both of them came right over and pooped and peed without hesitation. I do not want to have to clean the litter 2-3 times a day.
I call my endocrinologist’s office to find out why no one has sent up a script for my insulin (I’m totally out, didn’t realize the script expired) since CVS faxed a request on Friday (holiday aside, it’s now mid-week). Here no one on his staff bothered to tell CVS that the doc is out on vacation. They told me to call my primary care physician and HER staff was not keen on passing on this message since that doc has never done it (I have no idea if she called it in). Please tell me, WHEN did doctor’s staff members get the right to decide what call to put thru to the doctor and what’s worthy of following up and what isn’t? I’d shoot my staff if they had pulled this crap on my patients.
Half my class was already missing and/or coming in late/leaving early. Just as I’m packing up to go, student loans call me and I get mad because they never call me at home where they’re supposed to. The guy gets snarky with me. ‘I’m just trying to help. Fine, you can go fight a default. Good luck to you.’ He starts to hang up and I stop him and get his name. He changes his tune right after that. He has no idea what the other people from the same company mean when they say they’ll defer my loans if I admit I consolidated with them. And he does see that my HEAAL loan is being paid and at the same time is in the consolidation so I would be paying twice. He has no explanation and admits, he can’t help me after all. I said, never fear I’m asking the lawyer on Friday about it (I am).
I get home and find out I have a call from a creditor for yet another person I don’t know. (I’m edging onto 40 different people using this number for their bad credit). Call them, fix that. Had a call from the other side of my loans asking about that consolidation paperwork again. They can get bent for now.
Sit down with all the accumulated bills from when I was gone. My phone and broadband weren’t paid so now I have to figure out why billpay screwed up. Then I remembered, hey right before I left in May I switched to a new phone company. Where is their bill and why am I with Frontier still? I call them. The morons who switched me used my street address as my last name. Well only part of my street address. WTF? They never even called back or looked at their records. Supposedly now all that’s fixed.
Just one of these things would be annoying. All this at once, someone’s lucky they aren’t dead.
this is really neat. a London murder from 1879 solved I love this sort of thing.

These gardens were amazing. The S.W desert has its stark beauty but it's this kind of green that gets into my soul
