Riza had been forbidden to him from the moment of their first meeting. At first, of course, they had both been too young for thoughts of love and lust. Master Hawkeye kept Roy too busy to even consider romance, but nothing could completely quell the needs of a teenaged boy. It wasn’t as if he had immediately thought of Riza then. He had his more adventuresome ‘sisters’ to teach him things, but Roy was so very aware of his master’s daughter. He was too inexperienced to fully grasp the feelings that went beyond lust whenever he looked at her, but Master Hawkeye was no fool. He described in painful detail what would happen to Roy if the boy touched Riza.

They were no freer in the desert but pain and fear didn’t give a damn about military regulations. Their need for solace in hell pushed past the specter of dishonorable discharge or worse, time in the stockade. Roy couldn’t truly call it love, more a frantic acknowledgement of desire, hot and demanding as the Ishbalan sun. In the end, Roy thought their love went up in flames the moment she insisted he destroy her array.

He was wrong. She never left him. Rolling over, he hitched up on one elbow to watch Riza sleep. They were still stealing moonlit hours. Soon, he hoped, she would no longer be prohibited. They could love openly, freely. Until then, he’d settle back down next to her and love in secret.

Just lovely... I'd love to see (or write) something about a Roy/Riza Ishvalan interlude. I'm sure there's something out there about it, but until I find that, this is very satisfying. Thanks!

oh dear you would ask and my mind would go....I have no idea. I'll look through my memories and ask evil_little_dog. I know i have plenty that are right after the war and several that take place before it.(also wasn't sure if you're okay with erotica because some I know are)

Oh, I'm fine with it. In fact, I wrote most of what hobbit het there was. I'm just picking my way through this fandom and hoping to rely on others' work in finding good fics. LJ isn't the most conducive to archiving fanfic and it's hard to find what's good without some guidance. :D

that's true. and i'm not finding it myself (which means it might have been written and not put into memories since I suck at that) I have too may stories to remember.

Yeah, LJ is so not an archive.

I'm looking for good stuff from authors I've identified as good (I think I can include you in that group, ;)) that I can load onto my Kindle and read in the field. I don't generally work near a computer, (or wifi or cell signals) so I don't have access to online fic but if I can stash away a few good, long reads on that ebook, I'm set.

The shorter stories are great if you have internet or even cell, but they're almost as much work to format and load as the bigger fics and by the time I do that, I could have read them.

Any old Royai, or any canon couples are fine. I'm certain I'll enjoy it if it's one of yours. :D

ah yes, I understand. I do long and short work. I'll dig you out some. I do canon and non-canon, het and slash so picking thru my memories is a minefield. let's find you some long canon things

Oh, perfect!!!! This is exactly what I was hoping for! You are an angel of mercy! evil_little_dog gave me a link to all her fics back to 2005 and while I was grateful for the link, it looked like a ton to wade through. now i see where I have to go thru and fix up these so you can click on chapter to chapter. Ditto a series I wrote that I am STILL very fond of that was written before we knew anything about Roy's past. ANd I don't see Love is a Battlefield which is Royai and Ed/Win (it's on FFN under my name D M Evans)
