when I feel a tongue run up my calf. OMG Kanda, why? why must you do this.

I've come to a very uncomfortable realization that my first time having two cats at once has ended in total failure and I'm NOT sure I should get another cat after SOul even though Kanda loves playing with them. The reason is Kanda's playing is SO rough. Today for the first time, he started pinning down Roy. He's usually only ever sniffed at Roy but he had Roy pinned. I'm afraid he's going to do this to everyone.

And Soul after doing so well with being in this room, didn't use the litter yesterday and I had no idea where he went. today he went both ways all over the carpet. Sigh. And there is no reason for it since Kanda is locked out and not harrassing him.

I opened the final today to put tweaks on it after dinner and the file corrupted. OMG, WHY?

and student loans called me again this morning. They're now back to calling twice a day. Yeah I'm not even sure that's legal people.

Have I mentioned I'm doing camp nano. yeah I'm off to a resounding failure. I have way too much to do this week. sigh.

I have three cats that started having problems getting along recently when the dominant one got her nose out of joint over a feral I was feeding outside. For some reason, it set off her insecurities, and since then she has been beating up on her sister. and even my older cat. In an effort to figure out how to handle it, I read up on the cat behavior books, and selected one to get (used from Amazon, cheap)called Starting from Scratch, by Pam Johnson-Bennett. So far, I am thoroughly impressed. She seems to really know what she is talking about, and has a lot of insights not only into why cats do the seemingly inexplicable things the do, but how to handle all their behavior problems. I recommend it.

And... whale watching!! I'm so jealous, that's something on my bucket list. Did you see any, and if so, what?

that's i'll see if i can find that because even the calming phermones aren't working. I am getting rid of the one cat who has been absolutely terrified here. I've spoken to multiple vets and they all agree this isn't going to get better.

I paid 100$ to freeze my nipples off basically. Saw a lot of Harbor seals and an eagle catch a fish but no whales. I have seen them off the coast of maine though in the past

Yeah when we were in Maine we intended to go on one of the whalewatching boats, but just ran out of time. Gods, I love it up there, though. I want to go back. At least you saw some seals!

Your cats may be acting out just because of the new one. Maybe when she is gone they will settle back down. They are strange animals. That book has been an education.

unfortunately they're brothers who've been together for a year (half brothers, Kanda is 6 months older). this happened in the 2 weeks I was gone and they had a sitter. granted Kanda has always played aggressively

Apparently it doesn't take much to throw their social relationships and balance of power into a cocked hat! My three had gotten along famously for years, and all it took was me slipping outside to feed this feral (mine are all strictly indoor kitties) and suddenly everything changed. It was like suddenly her authority was challenged, or something. It doesn't make sense to me, but apparently if you are a cat, it does. Maybe being left with a sitter does something similar... Which worries me, as that is what my hubby has in mind for when we go to England... My older cat went into a massive depression when we went to Maine and my daughter came over every day - darn cat ended up staying IN her litterbox, and wouldn't eat. Made me feel guilty as hell. Cats are strange critters.

yeah in the past i've taken them with me to PA which they hated or boarded them which they hated more. I thought I was doing the right thing in getting a catsitter. Apparenlty not since this happened but in 5 weeks it's getting worse not better

Don't worry, I completely failed at Camp NaNo today, too, unless you count looking at lots of old maps of Osaka, which didn't add so much as a semicolon to my NaNo word count. I think I've flamed out already--all I want to do is sleep today.

Soul is such a problem child. Maybe he just can't live with other cats. Or maybe Kanda shouldn't. It's certainly not a failure on your part, just a case of incompatible roommates.

Calling you twice a day can't be legal. It's harassment. You should check on that and call them on it if you're in the right. They're legally obligated to stop if you tell them to.

My roomie and I got brother and sister rescues and it was only last year that the brother started to chase his sister. I don't know what it was but anytime he saw her, he chased her until it got to the point that she wouldn't come out from under my bed and would use said bed to pee on. :-/ There was one point where blood was drawn.

We put up an ad through either freecycle or craig's list and found the brother a new home where he could be by himself because things weren't going to get better. It had gotten to where we had to put her in the bathroom so she could relax and have a quiet place.

Hopefully you can find Soul a home where he can be an only cat and get luvvins.
