Mom and I headed for the malls today. Went to the professional hair/nail care place to pick up some color and they had all kinds of shatter (OPI) and crackle (china glaze) coats in a range of colors (I picked up black and silver). about two hours later the thought of gee I should have picked up some for [livejournal.com profile] havocmangawip hit me. Duh.

I couldn't believe how different this Macy's was from the one I went to last week. The other one is much bigger and usually has more but this one had three whole lines the other didn't carry. Got a shirt and black casual slacks for work.

There is a new Korean bistro over there (and their price and location will insure they aren't there by Christmas most likely). I made Mom go. It was actually very good food but they gave us chopsticks and nothing else (the service sucked). I was dying watching mom trying to use them. Hysterical. I had beef tangsuyuk which was very good.

Halfprice book store had manga/anime on sale. Naturally not anything anyone wants (I did see a few lousers I donated back in June still on the shelves). I did pick up a few things though.

That is a gorgeous dome.

I would've liked black and gold crackle. Just sayin'.

I didn't like Korean food when C and I ate it in Orlando. Too greasy/fishy.

:D :D

Maybe. We always made a point of trying a food type twice, both times we had Korean, it was greasy, to me. You know how I feel about greasy....

One of these days I am going to splurge and go to a nail salon and get mine done - I never have before, never even had a manicure. I'm such a drab. *sigh*

I haven't had Korean food in ages. We keep moving further and further away from the only Korean restaurant in my neck of the woods (even though 90% of the Chinese and Japanese restaurants are actually run by Koreans - go figure.) The only foods I remember were some kind of soup that I liked that had everything but the kitchen sink in it, the kim chee (of course), and a barbecued rib thing - bul gol gi, or something like that. I've missed that one so much I made an attempt at imitating it myself recently in my crockpot that actually came out half decent.

I've done it once.

bulgogi, mom had that (and I have a recipe for it). I have kim chee here that I also made.

I have NO idea where a korean joint would be in my neck of the woods, maybe Columbus

Oh, I'd love if you would email me the recipe sometime. No rush. I kind of improvised mine when I did it, just sort of throwing in this and that until I got a sauce that tasted kind of like I remembered it - I actually used some sake in it, and some hoisin sauce, and a gazillion other things. But it turned out pretty tasty (although it may have ended up being pretty far from the real thing. *lol*)

I remember the place I used to go to as having two different kinds of kim chee - one kind of spinachy and salty, and one made with bok choi, so hot it would take the roof of your mouth off. I can't do hot stuff, and never cared for bok choi that much anyway (not since an unfortunate episode with moo goo gai pan during morning sickness) but the spinachy one I liked quite a bit.

i think i have it typed in back home. If so I'll post it in the blog. i post a lot of recipes (wonders if it's on my recipes tag). hey so long as yours was tasty.

the spinachy one is the one i do (and I'm pretty sure it is on my recipes tag), it's mostly just napa cabbage salt and hot stuff to taste.

That reminds me of a question I have been meaning to ask someone for a long time! How the hell do you search tags in a journal format (like yours and mine both) where the format does not have the tags on the page? I realize it probably sounds like a stupid question, but I honestly have no idea. My layout was made for me as a surprise, and I really would rather have had one with the tags on the page, if I had had a choice. My new layout on DW has them (yay!)
