today was not as good as yesterday

honestly, seriously, with the retirement of one tenured faculty member afraid of change our meetings would go so much more smoothly and productively. Sigh. That said, there was one thing that did really bother me. One of the biology faculty that I like as a person but have heard things that trouble me as a professor has a renewable contract. In other words, you need to impress the powers that be to come back every year. She spent half our meeting TEXTING. It kept chirpping and she was sitting right next to the Chair of the school of science. I kept waiting for him to say something but he didn't but I know damn well it was noted. How. Freaking. Rude.

I knew i had gone over my monthly limit on Verizon. I expected it to be @100 dollars. no it was triple the price, over 150$. I called up to find out if it was right. This guy was actually a) NOT rude b) helpful without me asking. He knocked off considerable money for curtesy and we talked about me bumping up to the next plan which is 80$/month but 10 gig. (I was at 6 gig this past month, one gig over). It's only 20$ more than I'm paying. I need to look stuff over but I think I can make it.

Called mom. They want to put my aunt S (her best friend) on hospice and let her die. she's in end stage cirrhosis secondary to diabetes and keeps bleeding out. Naturally Aunt S doesn't want to do this. She wants to keep fighting. It's a horrible thing to know you're dying.

Mom and dad leave for vacation on saturday (and will be seeing Aunt S's daughter (the bigot) so yeah this will be a fun vacation). Mom didn't listen to us and told grandma she was going. Grandma hit the roof. How dare her slave go away? Mom didn't tell her Lucky Uncle is going too.

And if you haven't seen my flash fic on jana_denardo go look. Though please, if you vote, ONLY vote once. Apparently people were stuffing the ballot box which got people kicked. I still think some people are since i'm seeing some not so good stuff get tons of votes (or they have tons of friends). Also I have up something i really want opinions on on the original fiction filter and if you want ON the filter, let me know.

my brother is only working part time until October post-op and all that so he's BORED. He's been pissing about with photoshop. This is me and him about 1977-78 with Slippers, my first kitten. I am the one with the anoxeric arms and glasses. Holy hell I look like Howard on big bang theory. And dig those 70's curtains. What were my parents smoking? Oh right, they have a houka. I think i know the answer to that

Rude texting is one of my biggest pet peeves. People think they can do it anywhere these days whether than be present in the moment they're in with the people they're with. Grr.
