Wild and Wonderful West Virginia
Oct. 1st, 2011 09:02 pmI spent the day in you and what a crappy weather day it was. Still the icy rain, perfect day to be inside. I had a lab software workshop at the Ramada in Charleston. Well, I could have done it monday night in Columbus but...I was just there, it would be after work and I had to be at work on Tuesday. I'd rather give up my saturday and there's a casino in Charleston.
I need to make the trip without deadlines to take photos of some of the cool abandoned bits on rural route 35. The Ramada was ancient and they were tearing up huge chunks of it. the ladies room were two unsued hotel rooms' bathrooms. THe conference was worth my time and effort. The casino only got 20 out of me. I played for an hour but wasn't feeling it. Madri gras casino is small. They put in table games since last I was there and made it smaller. There were hardly any of the machines I liked and the restaurant was WAY more expensive than I remembered. I went to the nearby La Rosa mexican restaurant, inexpensive and had some very different stuff. I had chicken enchilades with mole sauce. i can't remember the last time I've seen that on a mexican menu around here. Got flan too since I cut my casino time short and gave up a saturday.
It was like I was the only person in the world in the the hills of WV. They are lovely. And better news, they'll be voting in a few days and I can stop seeing all their damn political ads. ALL my television comes from Charleston/Huntington except the channel from Ashland KY. The only thing worse than slimey political ads are ads from a state you can't even vote in.
My parents are in Wilimington NC at the beach and they ain't happy. They're with lucky uncle and his wife but the beds suck, NO screens are in any windows so they can't open them, the phones don't work, the dresser is broken. Someone is getting bitched out tomorrow.
