to learn how to use the smart boards. WHo the hell plans something like this at 330 on a friday? I couldn't go to my nano meeting and I knew that it was a secret party for one of them to celebrate his going out for X number of months anniversary (before he's sent to Afghanistan). They met last year in Nano. I attended virutally but none of use knew he was going to propose to her. I'm sad to have missed that.

Aunt S1 is in a rehab nursing home now which is farther than anyone thought she'd get but the nursing home wants to send her back to the hospital. She needs more nursing than they provide. Um WHAT? seriously? Isn't that what you DO? THe doctor wants her to die. Seriously. He is actively conseling her to just forego treatment because she has zero quality of life. She's having none of it. I think her twin might want her to reconsider. No one wants to die but this isn't really living either. Yeah, big heart attack like granddad had, i think I'd prefer that exit.

My biceps brachii and supraspinatus keep going into fasiculations right at bed time. annoying and mildly painful.

Writing wise:

fmagiftexchange I better turn in something. I do NOT want to be an asshole who sits back and does nothing for the exchange while others write for me. I do have ficlets, I promise.

fire & ice - it better finish itself tonight dammit.

big bang - beginning to wonder if i can sneak a scene onto it and cheap that word count (kidding, just kidding)

God I wish DSP would tell me if they want the novella or not. It IS seasonal so if they want it they will have to rush along. I suck at the waiting on publishers.

Pain always acts up at bedtime, doesn't it? I think part of it is that we notice it more. The rest is that pain is mean sneaky.

I'm sorry about Aunt S1. Ultimately, it is her decision. The doctor should respect that and shut up. If she is suffering, she will choose an exit. If she isn't, then leave her alone.

It's not that easy I'm afraid. You have to understand that a doctor will be pressured by multiple sources including the specter of being sued for prolonging suffering and for the fact that i suspect any day now he'll be forced to tell her her insurance no more of this shit pay on your own and he's trying to avoid that. Frankly I'm surprised they didn't cut her off a year agol I should find out what insurance she has since hell mine cut me off mid-stream in physical therapy which is a helluva lot cheaper and won't even okay that surgery I was supposed to have.

Ah, yes. I forgot we're not allowed to let people die with dignity anymore. What utter bullshit. I don't like insurance companies (though mine has been pretty good to me so far) and I don't like people who sue doctors over stupid shit. (I guess I realize that doctors are humans and not omnipotent gods or superheroes.)

Oh, and I clicked on the "Geeks at Nerd Cons" - I'm on there. Twice.

no we're not. even if you HAVE a living will some doctors/hospitals will not honor it in fear of being sued by pissed off relatives desperate to save a loved one who doesn't want saved (or viceversa get sued if they DID want it honored)

I do NOT miss this aspect of medicine at all.

I'm not a huge fan of nat'l health (after dealing with so many Canadaians tired of waiting and working our nat'l health, the VA) but I would love to see insurance reform.

It was pretty good. Didn't get to see Adam West/Burt Ward Q&A because I was getting Marster's autograph (like I needed another Marsters autograph) and by the time we got to the line, it was too long. The Q&A room was small, so that wasn't good, but saw everything else I wanted. I'm going to make a post maybe tomorrow.

I remember waiting to see Adam West in the Pittsburgh Civc centre back in the 70's and he stood us up. I cried all the way home.
