I thought I just might die tonight
Oct. 29th, 2011 11:55 pmGiven how the day went. I knocked my knee cap off track trying to get the wet laundry into the dryer (no big deal, my knees aren't put together well), then went to Walmart for a thermos and warmer socks and someone backed into me with her SUV. It was just a nudge but naturally she hit the bad shoulder. Then I dropped the full garbage can on my toe trying to get it out to the trash.
Oddly all walmart had were huge camping thermos's and one cupper to-go mugs both costing the same. Got the big one (keeps warm 24 hours my butt) and they did NOT have any thermal socks or gloves. They aren't in yet. Dudes, it's football season. It's hunting season, where the hell are your warm stuff. I DID find diabetic socks. I need those anyhow.
So I FINALLY found the right combo of clothing, light weight spandex including jogging pants under cotton jogging pants, an actual sweater under my black shirt (the sweatshirt was no where near as warm as this sweater), the double socks, the double gloves and my sweater-coat. I have no idea how the homeless in NYC etc survive. It was miserable yesterday. Today I was sweating.
While we are doing way worse than usual, we had 100 people today. Best scares of the night: The second guy of the night who fell on me when I popped out at him. The girl who ripped her friend's shirt when L scared her. The girl I popped out at and ah the sweet tang of ammonia follows. WHEE. (no,I don't feel even a little sorry) the big guy who was screaming at everything (I did feel a little bad later when I learned he was mentally challenged but he seemed to be loving it), and the best one was the couple going through. At my first scare station, I popped out and he knocked his girlfriend into a hay bale to get away from me. At my second scare spot, He grabbed her by the elbows and used her as a human shield and sidled away from me. Brave dude, real brave. The cow did his scaring too.
it was a good night and we didn't get the snow luckily. My parents did.

We're lucky here. Not a bit of snow. We're supposed to be getting some more rain, but they're not calling for snow. Which is fine with me.
