My aunt (by marriage)'s daughter has breast cancer. I'm assuming it's advanced. Let me say this, if you find a lump, do not wait. I know it's scary. I know we all fear it's cancer. If it is, you can't bury your head in the sand and hope it goes away. She did that for over a year. It could easily cost her her life. So...my uncle is dying, my aunt is dying and now this. Sigh.

In less depressing news, i was going to print this for halloween and ran out of time. My cousin got invited to a psychic reading at the casino. the lady told her that her grandmother had news for her. She says my grandmother is alive. The grandma who crochets? Oh maybe my greatgrandma. Well she says her daughter is in a strange home and is on oxygen. She will get pneumonia soon and if it's not treated quickly she'll die.

and every one who heard this story had the same reaction. Wow grandma guisepinna doesn't want her daughter in heaven with her. (which is probably only vaguely amusing if you're in my family)

got about 2K today

Snippet:
“What in the hells?” Sverre grabbed for the man. “Have you gone insane, Ghayth?”

“Shut up, gimp.” He twisted in Sverre’s grip and embedded the young man’s hooks into the soft wood of the window frame. Ghayth went back out the window and down the tree.

Archana cautiously went over to him. She could hear someone else yelling at her attacker outside at the same time she heard someone coming up the stairs. Sverre yanked hard on his prosthesis, but he couldn’t get the leverage to free himself. She put a hand on his back. “Stop that. Here, I can get you out of there without ruining much of the wood.”

Gee, and it's like pulling teeth to get Theo to talk. Maybe I'll have better luck introducing the villain.

Wow on your word count. That's impressive, Dana!

Getting breast cancer is a terrifying thought to me. It doesn't run in my family but I remember last Fall I had that scare and it was so so stressful.

Your aunt may well come through unscathed. My mom had a run-in with breast cancer, had to get a lumpectomy and radiation, and has been fine since. If it has not advanced too far, or really metastasized, she has very good chances - they have come a long way with the treatment. Keep good thoughts.

(and yeah, I agree that in general, 2011 has been one big world of suck.)

my cousin and yes they could do well but knowing her (and like i said I don't, not well being not really related to me) she will be utterly noncompliant

and it is one sucky year, so was last year

Noncompliant is not good. But I have come a long way in accepting things, if people make that decision that they want to go down that road. I can't save them, doctors can't even save them, if they don't want to save themselves, but I refuse to feel all that sorry for someone who doesn't take the proper measures to save their live, either. All decisions in life have consequences.

My mom has been getting very noncompliant nowadays - not taking care of her feet, not taking her meds, shit like that. It's her decision, but OTOH, she can't expect the girls and I to be willing to haul her around in a wheelchair for years because she's too lazy or vain (or just doesn't care) and ends up with an unnecessary amputation, just because she's being stupid. That's when she loses our sympathy and goes in the nursing home for sure, and she's been told as much.
