I am never going to get a thing done
Dec. 28th, 2011 12:42 amOn a day mom swore we'd be home all day I still wasn't here more than a few hours. We ended up going shopping for my gift from grandma. She wanted me to get boots. I wanted to get boots. Mom always wanted to get me diamond earrings to replace the ones that got canceled. Off to Macy's we go. I'm beginning to think that women with size 7 feet are the luckiest ones in the world. Shoes are always in their size.
Me, I'm Cinderella's ugly step sister. I can never find shoes. I found the pair of boots my SiL had on and let me try. They're nice but a tad too tight to fit over my slacks and way too WIDE on my bony foot. All the other boots I picked out didn't come above a 7. Finally found one boot by born that was my size and fit perfectly. But it's the last one in the store. I send the lady off to find the mate. finally she does. They're beautiful. They're a perfect fit. The missing boot had the price tag. They're two hundred dollars. Are you insane? I'm far too cheap for that. We mention that since it's the damn floor model I should get money off. They'd come down 15%. they kept the boots.
Head over to the jewelry counter. I point out the prettiest earrings I see and really want. I have taste my friends. I have taste. The earrings are blue diamonds worth 2,500$. I didn't like any of the others (diamonds mostly bore me) I look at sapphires instead and find another pair. 2,300$. Mom points to the 50% off rack. Look THERE. I did. I found a diamond Om necklace. 600$ and by the time we get coupons and money off it's down to 200$ but where the hell am I going to wear that where I live. Mom, you keep an eye on that. if it goes down to 75% off...
We start to leave the store in defeat when Mom spots some 100$ purse on sale for a price that didn't make me weep. Then I spot the hats on sale so now I have something that looks a little like a 1920's cloche and a purse.
Then we hit famous footwear since I did need loafers to go to work in. I ended up with the exact same pair I just wore out (bought in the same store last year) since my flippers were too narrow to fit into anything else and I got boots. Pirate boots. No really. And they're not tight nor horribly wide. And together they're still 100$ cheaper than the made in china 200$ boots in Macy's
I am so very short of writing time. Beginning to fear for my big bang...

I hear ya, sister!
Date: 2011-12-28 11:24 am (UTC)But I am large busted and narrow shouldered--so blouses with buttons are a no. I'm generously hipped and narrow waisted--and WHY is every pair of pants cut 12 inches too long???
I'm of average height so don't you think a couple of extra inches should be fine unless you're in the tall section? GEEZ.
When I do find something I can live with I buy 5 in dfferent colors so I won't have to do this again for awhile. And then people ask if I make my clothes.

Date: 2011-12-28 04:52 pm (UTC)I would KILL for long pants. Long pants I can hem. they're always too short on me. Ihave in the past actually added trim to slacks to make them look like they're long enough

Date: 2011-12-28 03:24 pm (UTC)I like Famous Footwear. I have a pair of slip ons that are made by Bass that they always have every spring. Comfy as all get out. I might get another pair next Spring even though the current pair I have are still in good shape.
Macy's is so overrated sometimes.

I like Macy's. when they have sales they're cheaper than wal-mart but full price is way over priced
