At least in my 8:30 lab. I've never run a physiology lab. I haven't used half of this equipment before and the stuff I DO know how to work hasn't been taken off the shelf in years. Prior to this there just wasn't time. Witness today. I get out 3 blood pressure cuff cases, two turn out to have stethoscopes in them and the third I suspect is from WWII. It doesn't have velcro. It has metal slats to hold it together? I have NO clue. I went to the other lab and got some. Two were dry rotted and I threw them out. Then at the end of the day I find a drawer full. I'll check them for dry rot later.

The Versa is having issues. As in I'm going to call Enterprise and tell them. Got in the car today and saw that the 25 mile trip ate nearly a half a tank of gas. Um...wtf? I suspect there's a pin hole. Then It would not upshift today coming home and the RPMs nearly red-lined. That engine is going to blow if someone doesn't look at it.

You did hear about [livejournal.com profile] silvrethorn's and my rental car dying on us, right? :|

WHEE for the cuffs. Seriously. Dry rot and you're teaching wannabe nurses? Shouldn't cuffs be in regular supply and in good condition?

oh yes I remember that KIA

well the problem here is that with one semester classes, there was never time to DO physiology stuff like BP. I don't think these cuffs have been out of the drawers since L taught the class 15 years ago

You got a bad seed.

That probably explains why it's losing gas.

Reminds me of the fact that modern velcro pressure cuffs don't fit around my arm - old-fashioned ones do. So there may be some benefits in that for somebody in a similar situation.

yeah they DO make bigger velcro ones and they are necessary on larger arms because it can affect the reading
