I have a series of towels I believe are now cursed. two weeks ago the dryer they were in didn't dry so I circulated them right back into the wash last week. The dryer worked but still didn't dry these towels (I'm highly allergic to mildew/mold so I need my towels to DRY). Today the washer didn't wring out and they're STILL not dried. I put them outside since it was warm and sunny. Nothing like an air dried towel. Might as well dry off with sand paper. shudders. And they SMELL. Not sure if that was outside or if it was from the washer. head meet wall.

I'm working on a lecture and the course proposal in between cleaning up house. didn't make much progress on anything, let alone the writing. sigh.

I did forget to put this on my writing blog.
writing a press release It's geared for the indie author but a lot of ebook and self pubbers might find it helpful.

If you have to dry your towels outside (like we ALWAYS do since we don't have a dryer), make sure you SNAP them before hanging them. I'm out there snapping clothes like mad, especially since we have such hard water and use nine kinds of conditioning to keep towels from being like sandpaper.

I'll keep that in mind. I try never to dry ANYTHING outside. I have bad allergies and hanging clothes is a big no-no

Several of my friends actually quite like Madonna's halftime performance. One of them was like, "HOW DO YOU SHUFFLE IN STILETTOS", lol. I don't like her new song, but otherwise it's quite cool.

no I don't like the new song either. I want to know how that one dude was sitting on a wire them bouncing up onto his feet on it

I'll just say this: Madonna's performance gave me a whole new appreciation for Lady Gaga.

Oh? I'm curious why (though mostly because I can't stand Gaga)

We'll have to agree to disagree. After watching the HBO Monster Ball Special, I became a big Gaga fan - and I really loathe 99% of all pop music, so I was surprised to find how much I actually liked her and enjoyed her music. The only other pop CD's I've bought in the past ten or fifteen years, besides Gaga's, are Adele's and David Cook's.

I think Gaga has a great voice, she's a good songwriter, she's an interesting person, and a talented and original performer. Her albums are well done, with a good mix of songs, and well-produced with great guest performances by people like Clarence Clemens and Eddie Van Halen, because she really is good and commands respect in the industry.

I was never a Madonna fan when she was big - the only song she ever did that I really liked was "Live to Tell", and she didn't write that. If you really want to know, I found the Superbowl extravaganza extremely overblown and rather cobbled together from mismatched bits and pieces - but then most Superbowl halftime things come off that way, so it's not just her with that. It seemed pretty clear she was lip-synching, her dancing seemed weak, and I gotta say, it really was one of the most blatant displays of an artist's egotism that I've ever seen - I mean, sequined M's on the dancer's crotches? C'mon, srsly?

You asked me.

Indeed but I find Gaga completely derivative of Madonna to the point I was not surprised when she was accused of plagurizing. I find her unoriginal in the extreme and arrogant.

But I will agree with the sequined M's. She was of course lip synching. You can't do that level of dancing and sing

You'd surprised. Watch the Monster Ball special - Gaga makes a point of never lip-synching, even makes a comment of how she would never do it, especially since that night two of her idols were in her audience, and she dances pretty strenuously. I've watched it enough to see it's pretty clever how she intersperses the heavier dance segments with breaks in the songs, but she does some pretty impressive hoofing and singing. But she's been training to sing and dance since she was small. I thought she was derivative of Madonna, as well, until I really watched and listened to her.

Like I said, we just have to agree to disagree. That's what makes the world go round.

I didn't see Madonna's performance, but people on my Facebook page say she ripped off Kylie Minogue.

I haven't seen Kylie in concert so I wouldn't know.

First off, let me say that I'm not a pop fan and have never really understood the whole synchronized dance moves when it really should be about the music, right?

Anyway, I'll give her props for being able to pull off those dance movies, in heels, at 53.

Didn't like her new song, but then, I don't like the overly synthesized stuff like that. The other songs I was more or less familiar with so I enjoyed those more.

I did think the sound mix was off a bit and her volume was too loud, which became obvious when she sang any of her duets.

The Madonna imprint on everything was a bit much, but then again, she is Madonna.

There hasn't been a really good halftime show in years, so I'm not going to complain.

you're right there hasn't.

no one liked that new song and yes at her age, doing those dance moves in heels I'm impressed

I like it when pop singers take a step back and just let their voices shine through. My nephew is a big Britney Spears fan and has played some of her B-side stuff that just her and a piano, and the girl can sing. You just can't hear it over the computers on most of her mainstream stuff.

I didn't hate Madonna's performance, but then I didn't pay much attention to it. However, what I did see made me think she was doing her Kinnect Dance 3 workout, so make of that what you will. LOL

I quite enjoyed Madonna's performance, though it didn't seem as energetic as she's been in other contexts. That was a small matter, though.

She had to lip sync, actually. The whole performance is taped ahead of time (i.e. the sound) because they've got the halftime show timed almost down to the second. They've got advertising and network cutaways, etc, that they can't deviate from. It's a shame, really.

Anyway, I did like it.

Hey keep up the good work. The first few weeks of a diet or of exercising are always un-gratifying. But once your body has switched on its healthy, sporty mode, you'll be grateful for all your past efforts...
