And you just can't point to what it is that is causing the suck. Well some people being bitches is pretty much the reason. if you removed them, work would be so much better. We all have one of those, right?

I did find out one of the above has been hoarding an ophlamascope for years. I could have been using it in lab. She left the lab a mess again and that's how I saw it. Argh.

It doesn't help that my sugar is swinging and making me short tempered. But I'm using less insulin. That's right, less insulin at night (I had to take extra today but I made a bad choice) so the exercise is doign that much and that makes me happy.

Also got my writers' group stuff done, late but at least I have it done. I feel like a putz when I'm late.

Ordered my contacts, made the appt with the dentist and confirmed with the surgeon that I can do any exercise I want to tolerance. That makes me happy. My arm is well bruised at this point but I am not giving up.

Mom had several new breast lumps. Neither of us are particularly worried. We both have fibrocystic disease so it's unlikely cancerous.

I had a strange dream this morning. All I remember was I was in bed with someone and I didn't want to get out. It was warm and snuggly and then I rolled over and got ensnared in the bedding, unable to breathe and panicked. When I woke up, it was gasping for air.

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

How can you exercise with your biceps off the bone? (Again, eek!)

If she leaves the lab such a mess, she can't be surprised when she accidentally loses the ophlamascope, right? >;-)

part of it is still attached because I'm able to move it.

I'm curious... how are muscles fixed to the bones?

normally the tendon fibers are continuous with the periosteum, which is a sheath of living tissue around the bone.

In my case, they moved the tendon off its origin and sliced open the periosteum, put the tendon there and stitched the periosteum around it. That's what is tearing loose, it's almost like a seam that unravels (which also happened to me today)

That's fascinating! As you can see, my scientific general knowledge is abysmal but I love learning random facts like that, so thanks for sharing :D

I then googled periosteum, big mistake! Well, at least I wasn't tempted by that piece of chocolate anymore... And anyway I learned we have blood vessels within our bones! That totally made my morning (also, it was soo sunny ^^)

Why did they cut your tendon off? Can they re-sew it? (though I understand you'd rather avoid another surgery). I hope it get better soon in any case.

hahaha well now you know what periosteum is and yes we do have blood vessels and nerves in our bone. it's aliving tissue even though we don't really think of it that way.

they cut the tendon off because of spurs tearing the tendon up. This time last year I was in so much pain I could barely dress myself and putting on a coat by myself was nearly impossible.

yes they can resew it but it will have less success in all likelihood

here's the surgery (you don't have to look if you're squeamish but if you're curious, this is how it's done) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHN_b1n8qSo&feature=related

After some hesitation (I was afraid it would be very gory) I did watch it. In the library. The girl behind me was positively green by the end lol. (although to be honest, I was also grimacing the all time).

aw, yes well that is why I put the warning there. That wasn't so very gory. Mine differed in that where they put the fourth port near the arm pit, my surgery was open (i.e incision, stitches etc)

Fibrocystic breasts are a pain. Mom and I both have them, and we both are always getting big scares when we get mammograms.

When I was taking my sugar several times a day, I was surprised to see how often it was higher when I got up in the morning than it had been when I went to bed. It didn't make sense to me. Lately I've been pretty slack about checking it, since my last A1c was pretty good.

I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and go back to the ortho surgeon myself-- last time he saw me he wanted to do arthroscopy on both shoulders to see if there was enough left there to knit back together surgically with either one. He's sure both are totally torn with full circ tears again, but after three surgeries already, there may not be much point to further surgery. It's really getting more and more painful lately, though, especially if I try any form of exercise with it - it really bothered me when I was swimming, too.

The icon is for your person who was being a pain in the ass. Hope your day tomorrow is an improvement over today.

they really are a pain.

What happens is when we sleep and don't take in food, our body naturally puts out sugar by breaking down the glycogen stored in our livers but our bodies can't handle it and we get higher readings.

ouch to your arms. You have my sympathy.

oh god, yes, she's driving me nuts. Seriously without her, work would be wonderful.
