Forgot to do some pimpage
Apr. 13th, 2004 08:40 amI'm so excited. I know I'll never ever finish any of my WIP's if I keep joining ficathons but I can't help myself. I need a 12 step program at this point. Besides, how could I resist a ficathon with my favorite character from Buffy. And it's not just a Giles ficathon it's a Ripper ficathon so check it out.
And while I won't be doing this next ficathon, I know some of you reading my journal are C/A'ers so go check out the Cordy/Angel(us) ficathon

Date: 2004-04-14 09:01 am (UTC)And as for ficathons, how do they work? Do you write the fics or are you requesting a fic?? I looked at that giles one (ripper giles!! my fave!!!!!!) but couldn't work out if they are writing hte fics listed, or requesting them.

Date: 2004-04-14 11:13 am (UTC)Ficathons work like this usually. There's a set topic, Ripper for instance. He has to be the main character of the story. You follow the moderator's list of things and request what you want, usually you get to say a few things you want in the story, a few things you don't, the genre, the rating, what you WONT write in some cases etc etc. The parameters vary from ficathon to ficathon.
Then the names go in a 'bag' and are drawn more or less at random. Usually it's not entirely random especially if there are restrictions like in my case I won't write slash so the moderator pairs me up with someone who doesn't want a slash story (works the same way for those who won't write het or a certain pairing). So your request goes out to someone else and they write the story you want to see. in turn you are handed a request and you have until the deadline to write. So yes, the stuff you're seeing for the ficathons are what they WANT to be written for them not what they'll be writing.
I'll be launching my own ficathon in a few days.
