Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog

Look, I stood up and pulled a few ficlets out of my ass for you.

It was funny, as part of the Friday the 13th festivities, the radio had on a segment wherein the students at my college voted a store in Gallipolis called Bad Toys for Bad Boys, the place to shop to survive the zombie apocolypse. Now i just have to go.

I did learn last night there is no way in hell I can wear a night guard. I nearly bit through it within five minutes, it gagged me to death and my front teeth didn't even touch it because my bite is a fucked up mess. Also it says NOT to wear it if you have TMJ. I've read that before but my dentist suggested it. I'll talk to him again but this is a no-go.

I'm not so arrogant to think that people should take every bit of advice i give them (well if they ask for medical advice, I'm disappointed if they don't listen). However, if you call me up late night for advice and then do the thing I said would be the worst thing ever, do NOT come crying to me. Just saying.

I think it's warming up. I'm warmer now than when I got home.

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!Adopt one today!

Awww, those are cute doggies!

And thank you again for the ficlets. :D

I often think that people ask for advice because they think they should but have already made up their mind on what they're going to do anyway.

Most doggies are.

:D

I have noticed that most people don't take advice, so I figure that's the reason.

Was the night guard one of those drug store pieces of crap? Because yeah, they don't work. Until my custom made one was made through my dentist, I used one of those. No support and they don't stay in well. Sadly, the dentist ones do run several hundred dollars. But at least they're designed to fit your mouth. I still wear mine every night, even though the acupuncture got rid of all of the TMJ pain because that didn't stop me clenching in my sleep.

it is but the dentist didn't want me to spend the $$$ if I couldn't bear at least the drug store one since the made for me one would be even thicker. I can't even stand to have a little bite wing x-ray film jammed in there and he's already seen what I'm capable of biting straight through.

i'm not sure if i have any options but i'd really like to know why they tell you to get one when it's contraindicated in TMJ. I'll ask on monday

I think it has something to do with the TMJ being aggravated if you grind/clench your teeth and the night guard lessens the impact of the joint because it provides a gap between the teeth. That was always my assumption, at least. I'll be curious to see what your dentist says.

i assumed it was because the thickness of the night guard + the clenching pops the mandible out of the socket but yeah I'm curious too
