I had a ton of plans for this day and it started off badly. I couldn't wake up. Took my morning sugar and found out why I was so groggy and nauseous. My sugar was high enough I could have wandered into the urgent care, you know if I had the brains and energy to have moved that far. I did what urgent care would have: gave myself a healthy dose of insulin then tried to write both stories and an exam.

I knocked off after lunch feeling margin (my sugar was at least under 250 and yes that is still very high). My friend,BB, picked me up and we went to the Tea Caddy (ELD knows the place) to see my friend L in a play called Bull in a China Shop about a group of old maids trying to get the attention of the cute homicide detective next door by bumping each other off. It's an old story dating back to Ellery Queen in the 1950's. It was very funny though a tea house wasn't the best for seating. The seat was miserably uncomfortable. However, we enjoyed ourselves and the best news is, the Tea Caddy is moving BACK into Jackson instead of out in the booms. I was always puzzled by that move (the rent had been too high where she was originally in Jackson). I hope it works out.

From there, BB and I went for Mexican then down to the college's first (maybe annual) short film fest and then a screening of Rocky Horror. Some of the shorts were very good. I was in one where BD, the art director, had clipped together footage of the silent reading in the library (where I was reading one of the anthologies I was in) into a fake competition. It was very funny. I liked them all with maybe the exception of the Last Supper which was twice as long as the next longest and would have been bad enough if it was just them sitting in the iconic Last Supper painting pose and the narrator reading the whole scripture but the last 10 minutes was someone doing a sermon on all of it and ending it with 'how have you betrayed Jesus' in freezeframe. There were four other ones with religious themes that didn't feel like I'd just been battered by a Bible. Then there was Amateur Survivor a sixty minute film of two young men trying to survive outside for a weekend (and chose all the wrong season for this).

This all took three hours so Rocky was skipped. At that point I was glad. I was achy from being in a chair all day and my sugar still hadn't come down. I had been going to dress up as Magenta since they asked for costumes but there wasn't time. just as well since I would have been embarrassed being the only one. I do have an idea of a film short I could do next year if they do it again (not for the competition naturally)

Aside from the sugar problem and the uncomfortable chairs, it sounds like fun.

Yay, the Tea Caddy! I've stopped getting emails from them, sadly.
