that's what today was. I hate having very little to do. I feel so lifeless and bored. I did have things to grade and I did accomplish that. I'm working on finishing my scarred soldier novella before i miss a shot at the deadline. Also working on my writers group stuff. Also editing a text book chapter for a very nice 150$ honorarium and hoping to get another one sent my way.

I'm also not feeling so well. I'm a little better now. Around five I had to go take a nap. I'm not a napper. I woke up a half hour later, not only disoriented but shaky and a little cold. I turned the heater on (well it's rainy and cold today so...). I'm feeling a bit better now but I just ate some questionable food. Let's see how dumb I've been.

Legend of Korra

The good - the art, the characters, the acting. I already really like Korra and Mako especially. Well who didn't know I'd like Mako right off the bat?

The bad - They're using the same plot device that made me stop reading the X-Men. I'm trying not to let it stop me but I loathe the normals against the benders (or mutants) thing. I do. I had two reasons for stopping the X-men that was one of them (the fact they spread the storyline between a half dozen or more books and got too costly was the other). I'm concentrating on the characters and hoping they carry me through this

Check out my post on [livejournal.com profile] jana_denardo if you want to take a survery on reading GLTB books and take a chance at a 25$ amazon gift card.

A lot of my friends have posted dangerous animal foods/toys recently. this scares me even more than those. dangerous food frauds

The food frauds thing is scary. I want to find a local beekeeper (I understand there is one across the river in Kentucky at the farmer's market there). I also would like to have enough land to garden and also keep cows, like we did when I was a kid. Don't see that happening any time soon, but I can hope. At least I can grow tomatoes, if it doesn't get too hot for them again this year.

and i'm beginning to wonder if you can even remotely trust the local beekeepers either.

cows would be too much work for me and since i don't drink milk...

i've had 5 years of bad tomatoes here. it's disheartening

I was thinking more about meat than milk re: cows.

Someone recommended this beekeeper to me.

We didn't have a good year last year, but the year before was wonderful.

I don't eat much beef any more either, not enough to eat a whole cow

i use some of the keepers here doesn't mean i entirely trust them but i'm not dead yet.

yeah i remember. not so here.

It'd probably take me a year to eat half a cow...

Well, there you go.

yes and it would go bad in the freezer before then. you'd need to find someone to share with

I hadn't even thought of the X-Men parallel. Huh. I spent most of that scene figuring out how the take-away-the-bending thing worked -- chi blocking at the third eye? Brr.

yeah I wondered about that and of course about how this man has a power only an Avatar should.

I read the X-Men from the 70's until the late 90's and off and on in the 21stcentury so I've 30 years of this same tired plot in my head

Of course they would!

Or, you know, drag the elk carcass out of the mountain.

Ohhhh so that's what I was feeling from Korra... never been a fan of that plot device, but it's not quite a turn off for me (though, I do hope they focus on things beyond that).

Hope you're feeling better!

And try to drag it inside the house, via climbing over the A.C.

I'm sure there'll be a lot of other stuff to distract me from it but from what I've read that is the main plot thread and yeah, like I was telling [livejournal.com profile] nebroadwe I've been an X-men fan for over 30 years and I've seen this plot just about that long. sigh.

still it looks like a good show and I'm going to watch it.

thanks, not so much yet but i'll straighten out.

Ow. That could certainly kill a plot. All I know about the X-Men I learned from the cartoons and movies, so it's not as tired for me. (Yet.)
