Bad day to be a cat

Well it's a bad day for us all here in CoM land. I was spring cleaning. Actually moving furniture, boxing, reboxing and tossing stuff. I ran the sweeper many times. Kanda and Soul were not amused.

I didn't mention that yesterday Soul was back to pooping on the carpet. To make it worse, he passed a large amount of blood. I bagged up the poop, cleaned up and called the vet this morning. I caught Soul easily enough...the first time. He slashed the hell out of my belly and I dropped him. I hurt my shoulder trying to recapture him. It was a good thing I bagged that poop. I talked to the vet about the fact that as soon as it gets hot he starts middening all over and lays in a heap barely moving. She doesn't know what physiologic cause this might be from. However, the bloody stools were from round worms. I about fell over. How the hell did he get round worms? It's not overly common in cats, especially ones that never go outside. I can only think he might have gotten them from Roy before he disappeared.

Ascaris lumbricoides are not to be taken lightly. They're contagious. They're so contagious and hardy that the eggs are viable even after embalming and we have to take precautions at school when i have students dissect them in my parasitology class. So that means Kanda is most likely infected. Hell, I could be infected. Whee. You just know every gas pain is going to be the attack of the killer worms for a while at least. We'll be luck I'm not scotch taping my own butt hole (that's how you can get the eggs for a sample, aren't you glad I know that?)

I got the dewormer for Kanda and I left Soul there. It's too much of a biohazard to have him expelling worms here on the carpet. He can live at the vet's this week. Maybe she can figure out why he's so fucking crazy while she's at it while i sit here with an ice pack on my shoulder.

In better news, I just sent in a non-erotic short story, vampire. I ended up going with Guiseppina Evans instead of Concetta or Maddalena. For some reason, this was very important to my mother. More important than I've ever seen her form an opinion on so I can live with being Jo. Also I AM editing a chapter of Until the Ice Breaks, just like I said I would.

Yeah a very bad move when publishers change your story like that. The owner of Undead Press is totally rude there. Reminds me of The Simpsons episode where Homer, Bart, and their group's story has been changed completely. And then in the end the story is advertised to be written by Neil Gaiman. XD

Ugh round worms. Though anything that has the word worm in it is evil. Except for earthworms. They can stay as tasty baits for fish.

And I've heard of that Undead Press before. I think from an sf_drama post before it got a little too much to be a member there. Anytime someone tells me to submit a story and links me to the publisher, I always check for that guy's name.

Those worms are a problem - and hard to get rid of (due to continued cross infection). P.S. I've had to take that very butt-tape test when I was a kid. I had to sleep with tape across my ANUS wheeeee (thirty years later in therapy....)
