Happy Geek Pride day!
May. 25th, 2012 09:44 pmOn this day in 1977 Star Wars premiered. It is also on tv right now. This is why I was sad about the button from Think Geek. oh well. I'm a celebrating my geekiness without much enthusiasm as it's already so hot here that I'm into the 'can hardly move except to puke' phase. When I was a kid we always wanted my uncle's pool to be opened for Memorial Day. He obliged and let us turn blue since it was still cool out. This weekend the water will boil...
I got my tens unit today and it is GREAT. It can do inferential (a criss crossing pattern of electricity that breaks down inflammation) straight tens (for pain) and estim (to make the muscle strength). It has a belt clip for wearing around. It's preset for times and can be plugged in or go on battery. I think i love it. Also I get to zap myself with electricity and I kinda like that.
Washed all the curtains (another source of allergens for me) but the realtor got hung up and we didn't meet. I did get a house guide with several other realtors they work with. That was helpful. I've come to two inescapable conclusions a) everything in my price range will need major work (the realtor who was there flat out said it) b) Wellston will get me more house for the money BUT that's only because the town has become less desirable and more crime ridden than Jackson.
for example this house Honestly if this goes on long enough I could probably offer about 40K less and get this house. In Jackson just about 8 miles west this would be 200-300K.
And then there is this house which is at my upper limits and frankly could probably be had for less than asking (i need to look up just where this is). From the outside it's one of the most appealing ranches I've seen but the inside. OMG click and look. this is where Barbie went to die I should be allowed to knock 20K off the price just for all the work i'll have in stripping wall paper.
For those who might like to help me out, stop by
jana_denardo later tonight. I have a question.

Date: 2012-05-26 04:28 am (UTC)It sucks that everything in your price range is either in a slum or is a structurally dysfunctional money pit. But there's got to be something out there somewhere. Keep slogging.

Date: 2012-05-26 03:06 pm (UTC)well slum and structurally dysfunctional is this whole region. welcome to Appalachia.

Date: 2012-05-26 04:30 pm (UTC)Ocala also runs between $39,000 fixer-uppers in rental-slum neighborhoods and $300,000 houses that people would actually live in. It isn't just Appalachia. Not much in between, either. Palace or dump, take your pick.

Date: 2012-05-26 04:34 pm (UTC)yep that sums it up. Palace or shack, and i can only afford the shack

Date: 2012-05-26 05:49 am (UTC)The other house...I dunno...something about it made me rear back and say "Oh hell no!" and I love those kind of houses!
come on love...go for the good house!

Date: 2012-05-26 03:04 pm (UTC)i need to find out where barbie house is since that town is pretty bad.

Date: 2012-05-26 06:49 pm (UTC)GO! Look at it! FEEL it! At least seriously consider it and get yourself out of that nasty little place you live in.
*clickies*
Date: 2012-05-26 10:53 am (UTC)And yay on cutting down on allergens. I have to do that all the time too. To save money and have more variety in my curtains, I use top sheets (sounds trashy, I know, but it doesn't look it when done right). I cut a small hole in the folded over top stitched part of the sheet that acts (perfectly I might add) as a place for the curtain rod to slide in. You can even do little gathers if so inclined.
Carpet is the real problem with allergens. When you get your new house - out with the carpet!
Re: *clickies*
Date: 2012-05-26 02:58 pm (UTC)I've made curtains out of sheets and valences. I'm boring. I hung these curtains 6 years ago and they'll be there til they rot off. I'm not much of a home decorator
oh tell me about it. There was one house i looked at taht was all no-carpet. I'd buy it just for that.
