Like today when I packed up the suitcases and carry ons for tomorrow's flight. I made a list, marked things * for carry on + for suitcase, got all items out made a checkby each. Packed them and put another check then looked at it hours later and crossed out with red (bet I STILL forget something,I always do).
then obsessively checked my flight (still can't get 2 seat assignments.) realized they've changed my seat for a very undesirable one. called, bitched, got my old seat back. Did I mention that the airport in Amesterdam's name means ships grave in English? It has a museum, a library and a mortuary in it. At least I'll have something to do since I can't see me escaping it for my 6 hour lay over. Damn I could probably use a coffee house by then.
A little prayer for a good flight and no mix ups at the air port will not be amiss. I'll be staying with
bob_fish a couple nights. I'm very excited for that!
I got my fma_ladyfest and it looks pretty good. (I had forgotten about it too). I should get some writing done in all these lay overs.
I did get some stress relief today. Dad and I went out with the Ar-15 and target shot. My first time with that rifle.
Last night a oppossum wanted me to come out and play a coyote was singing and the donkey and llamma were screaming.
ES sent me this and I had to share

Safe journey.

Date: 2012-06-27 02:46 am (UTC)I got my fma_ladyfest assignment also and I like the prompts I got. Real quick, you think you'll still have time to beta while you're overseas? The prompt I decided to try out I might need your thoughts on a couple things. However, I understand you'll be quite busy during your trip so I'm fine trying to find another beta.

Date: 2012-06-27 08:55 am (UTC)I put your bed together last night! We just redecorated the spare bedroom, now there are bookshelves and a fireplace should you feel like burning some stuff.
I'm excited to meet you in person and show you Highgate and other fun stuffs! You will also get to see my amazingly dignified cats.

Date: 2012-06-27 01:52 pm (UTC)Yay, I was wondering if you had a spare bedroom or if it was going to be the couch/air mattress. I did google earth the place. We're all like OMG how many houses are on one street (can you say country folk?). I also 'walked' the path to the station and thought how do you cross that street without dying?
I'm excited too. Thanks for letting me stay. Are the cats people friendly? (or like my uncle's cat who pretends to be friendly than attacks when you pet her?)

Date: 2012-06-27 02:17 pm (UTC)We did have a sofa bed but it's been swapped out for a daybed that pulls out to a king with proper mattresses! I built it yesterday so you'll get to inaugurate it.
London houses tend to be row houses/terraces as space in the city is expensive. Most of Walthamstow including our house is Edwardian (1901-10) - lots of villages got absorbed into London around that time as new train links into town from the outskirts made it possible to commute.
We're on the same side of the big street as the station - you'll see when you get here. Many Londoners jaywalk and traffic dodge constantly, as you'll also see - but there are pedestrian crossings over that street and most streets, so there's never any need to play Russian roulette with the buses unless you want to for fun.

Date: 2012-06-27 05:59 pm (UTC)oh cool. yes, London reminds me of some places in NYC only older. I love old buildings (not that 1900 is particularly old for your neck of the woods)
I did see the crosswalk with someone in it.I still see me going under a bus. Snort. In cities, I rarely take changes with the traffic (mostly because I'm not IN cities very often and figure the best way not to die is to go to the crosswalk and I still got hit by someone running a red light in Cleveland once)

Date: 2012-06-27 06:08 pm (UTC)There are older bits of London, but my house has some fun original stuff still in it.
I've got far more used to taking my chances than I ought to! But rest assured, there are lots of safe, legal pedestrian crossings.
